This is my second year filing with TurboTax. This service takes most of the guess work out of tax preparation and provides excellent answers and reference notes for questions.
What's great about it: Easy to use; excellent explanations provided

Overall pleased

have used it for 6-7 yrs, overall pleased, but the whole K1 thing always confuses me a bit, esp the "pass thru stuff" and the depreciation stuff...179 section??
What's great about it: easy to follow, seems to ask all relevant questions, communicates automatically with prev yrs of turbotax
What's not so great: seems a wee bit WEAK on my S corp/K-1 line of questioning

totally unsatisfied

I have used turbo tax for years and been completely satisfied however this year I am very unhappy. Whatever changes you made for this year were confusing and not user friendly at all. I am not at all confident that my return is correct but I need to get it filed so will most likely have it reviewed by a tax expert later this year to make sure of the calculations. Please remember when you make changes that those of us who use this software are not "experts" and we are relying on you to make our tax filing accurate and user friendly.
What's great about it: convenience
What's not so great: see review
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've been using TurboTax for several years and am very satisfied. The only problems are in obscure areas, where I can't get a good explanation, and/or can't figure out how to override sone mistaken assumptions made by the TurboTax dialog. For example: this year I am 63 and my wife is 60 (turned 59 1/2#. We are New Jersey residents and retired, but I have to file a New York State return because I exercised a stock option from my fomer employment in New York State. My wife rolled over a 401K to a Roth IRA in 2010. For 1012, TurboTax shows that this rollover is NOT New York taxable income but is deducted from NY income, leaving me with a net tax due of zero. For 2011 this was NOT deducted from NY income. There is no explanation within TurboTax for this deduction #form IT-203 line 28 New York Amount), and apparently no way to change it. After spending an hour on the NYS tax site, I guess that the reason for the deduction is that my wife is age 59 1/2 in 2012 but was not in 2011. Obviously, I hope that TurboTax is correct, but I would have liked to see an explanation. However, this is a truly obscure situation, and doen not affect my overall satisfaction with TurboTax.
What's great about it: excellent integration of Fed and NYS
What's not so great: skimpy explanations on state
