made it straightforward

Overall, it worked well and I like the import. I am concerned about the issue with California capital loss carryover instructions being unclear and online conversations make it clear this has been an ongoing problem. I am still not sure it is right and definitely don't know why California has ended up different than federal over the years, when the deductions look like they should have been the same to me.
What's great about it: easy import from last year
What's not so great: not clear about import of capital loss carryovers - state vs federal

I realize it too late last year that I the Unreimbursed Eployee Expense doesn't automatically populate over to the state and you have to manually go through each of them. But the State doesn't give you an error, if you just skip over it. This year I did catch it and went through each of mine and my husband's Unreimbursed Employee Expenses.
What's great about it: I like the way it walks you thru each step.
What's not so great: The unreimbursed Employee Expense does not populate over to the State.

printing your documents

I didn't deduct a lot of things because it was too hard to do so. I am considered self-employed but not like most people. I am clergy. I use my home office but what Turbo asked just didn't pertain to me. One good example was the mileage. I have a mileage book and my churches reimburse me for my mileage but no where on the worksheet does it simply ask how many miles did you drive for business that you were not reimbursed for. Because I lost my hard drive I also lost my last years office expenses so I had no dates of purchase for many items. I just skipped it and possibly lost a few dollars Im sure but this area could be improved
What's great about it: I have used turbo tax for years but this year I was unable toprint out my forms. frustrating
What's not so great: problem solving sites don't work

Have been using turbio tax for over 10 years never a problem and each year gets easier...maybe I selected teh wron product but the use of home office calculations are no longer there in the delux edition.
What's great about it: ease of use, better each year
What's not so great: no schedule C in delux edition

Downloading Updated Forms was a Pain
on March 25, 2013

Overall, it was very helpful and user friendly. My only issue was updating the federal form. I tried several different troubleshooting suggestions to no avail. On Day 2, ran the same troubleshooting suggestions and then started TurboTax over and it seemed to work this time. We'll see when/if I get my confirmation. Thanks for the help!
What's great about it: Led me to the right answer
What's not so great: Updating forms troubleshooting took 2 days
