Oh, What a Relief!

Turbo Tax had gotten to be more and more comprehensive, and clearer and clearer in one's being able to follow what the heck they are asking for, and why. It still is important to REVIEW the returns before filing; I have found some income piece that's been listed twice (as in: listed as BOTH 1099 Income, and strangely also as Schedule C Business Income...) or some other small thing - but fixing it is do-able, thank goodness. SUCH A RELIEF compared to doing these things by hand (25 years!)
What's great about it: Comprehensive AND all the questions are short, specific, and clear
What's not so great: Seems endless, if you choose the "Step-by-Step" method

Refunds are Better than Owing

I've used Turbo Tax for many years now. I find the software very easy to follow and intuitive. Having the ability to go back and re-check information is re-assuring and helped me find a mistake.
I had one confusing thing happen this year. A 1099-DIV form was electronically downloaded this year. The name on the download was slightly different than what I had entered last year. As I was going through the "checking" process, the software highlighted a missing entry in the "old" Investment form. Not understanding what is was asking for, I re-entered the dividend amount from my "new" form. It ended up double counting my Dividend income. Luckily I caught the mistake during a manual audit of last years return compared to this year. That mistake almost cost me $150.
What's great about it: Easy Guide is a big help in explaining each section. Automatically pulling information from previous years.
What's not so great: Internet downloading sometimes can take a little while.

Easy guidance...

Many things I like about TT. Transferring last year's info to the current tax forms is a great help. I enjoy the additional information on each topic if needed. If not for turbo tax, I would have to pay an accountant, and I like being in control of inserting the correct info, not just giving it to someone else to file for me.
What's great about it: All the information I need is in the TT software. I wouldn't do my own taxes without TT....
What's not so great: Absolutely none.....

Professional Time and Money Saver

A good product but it could use some more fine tuning for those of us who not tax and/or computer literate.I'd rate it an 8 of 10.
What's great about it: Covers many tax areas in an easy to use and for the most part understandable manner.
What's not so great: Instructions easy to use but every once in awhile they don't quite cover all details. Expand It's deductable topics.
