I have used TurboTax since 1997 and each year it seems to get easier to use. After completing my taxes I go back and go through EVERY option to be sure TurboTax didn't make a bad decision - and it never has for me. I use my savings to take trips each year. This is where I went last year.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Comprehensive coverage. Makes doing taxes 'almost' painless
What's not so great: None come to mind

Very Happy, used it for years

I like having the choice of going though all the steps, or just picking the topics in e.g. income or deductions.
Also like to be able to go to the Forms view very easily, and back to step-by-step.
Was able to help my daughter and a few friends with their taxes.
What's great about it: Like the import from previous years feature
What's not so great: When waiting for error check, there is nothing to indicate that the program is doing anything, makes me wonder if I clic

Over all good program. The charities section could be easier. I have been using turbo tax for over ten years and still find it to be the way to go.
What's great about it: keep updated
What's not so great: Charities were very roundabout

Great leading questions to know what information to gather or where to look for the information. Couldn't be easier for a task that can seem daunting and overwhelming. Turbo Tax makes it a breeze.

Quick and easy preparation

Pros: Does everything you could want out of tax software, so far as making it easy to file your returns and walking you through the process. It'll even make the filing process quick and simple.
Cons: The cost of the CD in the store isn't the only cost associated with this software. E-filing with some states and even the government may cost you extra.
Neutral: The software will ask you two or three times in total if you want to buy into tax defense services. The cost is apparently divided up equally between users who do and don't get audited. It's "Insurance" in the way it's implemented, since they make money by betting on most of their customers not needing the service.
I applaud the fact that their method of selling this is done as well as it is. Yes it can be big and in your face sometimes, but you wouldn't pay attention to it otherwise. The fact that they keep it to a minimum is a plus, and negates the rest of the negatives, when you consider things from a business standpoint.

Overall: 5 stars because it's well worth the initial investment, the advertising is applicable to the situation and only intrusive when it needs to be, and the product advertised can be useful to consumers. The hidden fees can be mitigated by filing by mail, but you'd be paying them to tax preparers anyways.
What's great about it: Walks the user through every step. Helps user identify necessary information. Files taxes quickly
What's not so great: Costs more than the in-store CD leads you to believe.
