Works pretty well

I have used this program for many years, and so far, so good. I even used it for an amended return with good results. Taxes are so complicated that you have to have help, and TurboTax is pretty easy to use. Thanks.
What's great about it: Many good explanations. Pretty efficient
What's not so great: A few areas where you think you did it, but you have to keep going back to correct the same errors.

Turbo Tax easy and thorough.

I have been using Turbo-Tax for many years. This turned into an advantage when I discovered that I had failed to report a significant cap gain loss two years prior. TurboTax walked me through the steps to re-file, and spread the loss over several years. Then, TurboTax remembered each subsequent year and automatically inserted the correct numbers for the cap gain loss. Some tax "consultants" would have stumbled over this. It is important to preserve TurboTax files and transfer them when getting a new computer. Perhaps someday storage in the cloud will be safe and practical.
What's great about it: Leaves no stones unturned in analyzing income and deductions.
What's not so great: Had to dig a bit to get sales tax calculations. I live in a state with no income tax.

Easy Income Taxes Prep & Calc

I have used TurboTax for several years. Until this year (2012 Tax Year), I always prepared manual 1040 and associated State Tax Forms to compare and assure TurboTax performed the same calculations, entries, and the same forms/schedules. I have not been disappointed. I trust that accurate filing will continue without a need to manually check the calculation!
What's great about it: step by step guidance
What's not so great: Repeated request to complete my contact update information whenever I return to continue working my return.

Easy Income Tax Preparation

I have used TurboTax for many years and always prepared a manual copy each year as a cross-check to verify correct entries, calculations, forms, and schedules were produced by TurboTax. I have not been disappointed. For Tax Year 2012, I have discontinued wasting time with a manual solution cross-check. I trust that TurboTax will continue to be error-free for me.
What's great about it: Step by step guidance.
What's not so great: Repeated request to fill out update contact information each time when returning to continue working the tax form.

Like that since I use TurboTax every year, it transfers my info from last year. Then when I am going thru each item, I can see what my entry from last year was, helping me through it all. Been using TurboTax for MANY years now and it handles my needs perfectly.
What's great about it: walks through each step
What's not so great: getting pricier by the year
