Last Time?

Many years of happily using TurboTax. This year there were areas that seemed wrong or incorrect. There was no way to contact Turbotax for an explanation or assistance. Big question if I will use it again or find a competitive product that is responivee to the user.
What's great about it: Easy to use and comprehensive

Big error on IL taxes

TurboTax would not file electronically because it said (erroneously) that I had state withholding on a 1099 other than 1099-R, 1099-G, or or other 1099. I do not have any IL withholding other than estimated tax payments. BIG ERROR.

Will not print

When finished with my taxes, i went to print out my forms like I did for the last five years. All I got was an unprintable PDF file. everytime I tried to find a way to print, I kept gitting this same response. In prior years when you reached the end of your taxes, you hit print my returns and Turbo tax did it. Not this year.

Too many problems

This is the worst experience I've ever had with Turbo Tax.
Because of some "problem" with changes in the rules on HSA's, I can't file my 1040 electronically. Bugs in the software regarding MN taxes means I have to go back manually and redo them, even though I haven't mailed them in yet. I'll be strongly considering different tax software next year, or using a tax service instead.

Old Reliable

As a former Enrolled Agent I fin d this tax program as easy to use as the professional programs I used when I was working. New users should appreciate the explanations for items that can be perplexing.
What's great about it: Easy navigation; good explanations; very reliable.
What's not so great: Difficulty in selecting only certain pages to print.

Please fix some bugs I noticed while filing

I live in a foreign country so I encounter issues with TurboTax that most users do not. In particular there are edit checks on the day time phone number at electronic filing time. These edit checks are bogus when the user has a foreign address. The edit checks need turned off. This caused me a great deal of grief. The only way I was able to file was by erasing the day time phone number which by the way was correct for the country in which I live. Then TurboTax presented a another field asking for a phone number and I entered a US number.
I also was not able to file my Maryland income tax return electronically from overseas. This is a Maryland requirement so nothing TurboTax could do about that. So I filed my Federal return electronically. When I came back to print a copy of my state return the logically flow of TurboTax was cumbersome. It was not a smooth process to only file a state return. An analyst needs to look at the flow in Turbo Tax when the user only wants to file a state return.
