Fairly Simple - with Some Preparation & Experience

I had prepared for tax time for six months, keeping detailed records and even doing some speculative calculations based on 2011 IRS instructions. So I was pretty well prepared this year, and have experience using TurboTax and Quicken for a number of years. I completed complex 1040 federal and state returns in a total of about five hours.
TurboTax imports data from Quicken and from prior year TurboTax returns (if you maintain the data and keep the files on your computer rather than deleting them when you're finished#. This significantly speeds up the process.
Several choices did not provide clear distinctions among the choices, for example, in selecting a category for personal non-cash charitable contributions/deductions. These seemingly minor choices made (and make) me uneasy that someone at the IRS will "flag" my return over semantics - although I did my very best to provide totally honest information. I guess we'll see what happens now that I've filed.
What's great about it: Well-organized; fast; logical; clear
What's not so great: Sometimes provides choices without clear explanations

Love My Refund

I absolutely LOVED how easy & quick it was to file my taxes! It seemed even easier than last year. I recommend Turbo Tax to anyone out there!! It's awesome!!!!!! :)
What's great about it: Loved the E-File option!

Still Not As Intuitive As I'd Like

You make it easier, but some of your definitions and explanations don't seem to fit my particular status as a military retiree and federal government retiree. I feel that I'm making a guess occasionally when I input information from my retirement 1099R forms.
Incidentally, you should ask "Do you have dependents?" rather than "I have kids" or "I don't have kids." I have a kid, am proud of her, but she's 40 years old and not a dependent.

Good, not perfect.

I have been using Turbo Tax since 2003 without any trouble. It has always been very fast and easy to use. This years software had a glitch with the Arkansas State Return that would not allow me to e-file. It said that "Returns with Other Income reported on AR1000F Line 20 are not eligible for electronic filing." However when you looked at the form AR1000F there was a 0 (no income) in the slot.
Customer service was extremely nice (Vicki) looked at my screens remotely and we ended up agreeing that it would be something that would have to be fixed from a software update and I would have to mail my return.
I was still able to e-file my federal return, was just kind of a hassle to have to mail the state.
Other than that it was still an easy and fast product to use.
What's great about it: Fast and easy
What's not so great: Programming code not always accurate or up to date

I did my taxes in less than an hour and it was easier this year than last........Step by step instructions and the suggestions given to me, saved me this year and increased my return
