Taxes with Ease

Turbo Tax has served me well for years and years. I love the auto fill feature from the previous year and the importing from my investment institution. It's easy to use and such a good value. I would just suggest maybe links to the IRS website for certain categories.
What's great about it: Autofill from previous year
What's not so great: Not enough descriptions for certain catagories

TT is extremely easy to use. It guided me through tricky IRA early distribution topics that saved me the federal and state penalties, which maximized my refund!

IRA Helpful

Received excess return on my ROTH IRA contributions. Followed all the steps and it walked me through inputting the 1099-R then separated out correctly what was taxable and not. I was worried that the result would not be correct, but Turbo Tax performed as advertised.
What's great about it: Keeps you on track through the various steps
What's not so great: You can get lost if you do not follow the steps

One would think that it would be cheaper for the state to accept this for free rather than paying someone to open mail and enter all the data
options do not show to select an overall rating - a hit or miss proposition but we got it done
What's great about it: loading of demographics from prior year(s)
What's not so great: fee for e-filing of state returns

Filing taxes was almost fun!

We've used Turbo Tax before, and it always makes the process easier. It's fun to see our refund number change as we input information. We got the Deluxe version and it was worth every extra penny! It helped us find a lot of deductions that applied to us.
I would like it even better if I could download the program, so that I wasn't left with a CD and packaging that I'll never use again.
What's great about it: Easy to understand, clean format, ways to get more info when needed
What's not so great: Wish I could download the program

Problems With Two State Returns

Did a Federal, Resident State and Non-Resident State. I found 8 items were not transferred to the Non-Resident return. This required going back to the Federal return and finding the form, line and box required. Not that easy.
Then I could not e-file the Non-resident form. So I had two e-files and 1 US Mail. This caused all kinds of problem getting confirmations and printing. And an endless loop in the review process. Not good. So while the overall was Good, the second state had too many problems and was too difficult

What's great about it: The First Return Was Execulant
What's not so great: The Second Non-Resident State Return Was Fair
