WORKS FINE

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like my Whirlpool Trash Compactor. The only feature It does not have is the pack feature like my old kenmore compactor. Otherwise would recommend it.

Love the hands free

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this compactor after the one I had for years quit on me. I absolutely love it. It has a foot lever to start the compacting which leaves my hands free. I bought the stainless steel and live the looks but I wish that I would have had the option to get fingerprint free stainless.

Disappointing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second trash compactor I've owned, the first was a Kenmore. The Kenmore has an extra pack feature which the Whirlpool doesn't have, which significantly limits the capacity before having to change out the bags. I regret not researching the extra pack feature, and if the Kenmore wasn't white, I would install it in my new kitchen instead of the Whirlpool.

After 3 yrs stuck down

Lately I have to remove the compactor, turn it upside down, remove the bottom panel, and painstakingly rotate the greasy gears to raise the ram. This now happens every time I compact something. Today I tried a block of wood, because that should immediately reverse the ram. It is now stuck in the down position. Every so often it makes a humming sound like it is trying to do something. At least it is not stuck down on rotting trash.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this trash compactor about a month ago and it has really worked well! It compacts so well, I barely have a full barrel of trash which now leave more room for me to throw bigger items out/downsize :-)
