This is our 4th trash compactor we have lived in a home with a Kenmore, Kitchen Aid, Jenn Aire and this Whirlpool.This is undoubtedly our worst one ever!We didn't realize it didn't have the extra-compact feature or the option to turn off the machine at the precise moment to keep the ram rod engaged. We have to empty it twice as often as the others which had either the feature or allowed you to turn off and keep it engaged.Often when we believe the door is closed it will open and make a horrific noise until we run to it and shut the door again so as to stop it from compacting! If the door isn't shut, even when it appears to be, it will make the same awful noise as it tries to begin compacting???The door is quite flimsy and feels cheaply built and not very durable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great but needs a lock down feature

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this direct not realizing it didn't have the lock down feature to compact overnight which was on my last compactor. I wish I would have noticed that, other than that it does a good job of cutting down on trips to the dumpster.

I love that we have much less trash now, but the compactor makes a horrible noise at the end of compacting, and we've only had it a few months. We'll see how easy it is to get someone out here to look at it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] had this installed in November. Had to have the starter replaced in December. Starter was acting up again, so repair guy installed another new part in January. Hoping this takes care of it. Hoping I didn't get a lemon

Great Features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this in December of 2021 and just received it on April 1st 2022 a long time to wait for a compactor. Sometime back they removed the spray can system that worked real good. It would be nice if they reinstated this feature. I have had 4 compactors in the past 60 years and all had the same type features, less the spray can..It has been a real good product
