[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As trash compactors go, it's probably better than average these days, but the housing seems insubstantial (i.e., cheaply made), and the foot pedal for compaction is easy to trigger by mistake. For the price we had expected better quality.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy with the product other than I wish it had an air freshener that fit in the provided compartment. I cannot even buy one that fits in this space.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased the Whirlpool 15" Undercounter Trash Compactor to replace one that had been in service for many years. This new model looks sharp with our other stainless finished appliances. It functions well, saving us many trips to take out the trash by crushing waste into one bag that can be easily removed and disposed of. I only wish that we had made this purchase months earlier when the old compactor started going rogue on us!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My last compactor was a 17yo KitchenAid . It always worked well. I needed to switch to a stainless steel compactor so chose KA again. This one works fine but feels less sturdy, I wonder about its longevity
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this direct not realizing it didn't have the lock down feature to compact overnight which was on my last compactor. I wish I would have noticed that, other than that it does a good job of cutting down on trips to the dumpster.
Replaced the GE compactor a couple of weeks ago after fighting it for about four years. The new Whirlpool was easy to install and level and works fine. The only problem is the placement of the foot switch to operate the compactor. It is to low and I am constantly hitting it with my toe when working at the counter.
