Very good. I have German Shepherd dog (sheds all year round) and two Persian cats - and on the 3rd day after vacuuming house looks like a zoo. With this Roomba 780 I can do general vacuuming once in two weeks - and house looks more than acceptable clean in between. Only one concern - this thing is loud - so if you work from home - it'll be annoying.. Also, really spend 5 minutes to watch this video - maintenance is really important: http://homesupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/515 On my robot I've got front wheel stuck because of dirt (I didn't knew that wheel axle(pin) was removable) and it damaged the caster - but iRobot sent the replacement - excellent customer service!

Its just perfect, i love it and my wife loves it too. I never get tiered of cleaning its bins in the morning first thing, because i know what job it has done for me. iT Saves me soooooooo much time, i just don't have to worry about dirty socks half day though the day or vacuuming just because of the children playing with soil. I am just too happy to describe it in short, i am getting a Scooba now to help the Roomba do its job even better. Thank you iRobot Ilja

"The Best Vacuum Ever - I love It!"

Our cat is called Max, therefore the Roomba is called: "The Maxinator". He picks up all cat hair, debris and in bathroom, my longer hair. I can tell from the cleaning bin, whose hair is whose. At this writing, I think the 780 is the top of the line that is available for pet lovers. I decided to buy the top of the line after watching my pet-less neighbor demonstrate her I-Robot Roomba 600 to me. She loves hers and I love mine and wonder why I had waited so long to even research the ability of having a robot device, clean my house. The Maxinator works better than my cleaning lady did. One of the main reasons I bought this Roomba 780 was that I was seeing the Chiropractor two times a week for my back, from all the vacuuming. The cost of the vacuum is way cheaper than the cost of seeing my Chiropractor over a very short period of time. We have 4090 sq. feet divided between two levels. I unplug the base unit, carry it and the Roomba to the basement and let it go. Time is about 1 hour and 22 minutes for each level. Lots of corners, large and small rooms. Roomba cleans better than my canister vacuums or my upright vacuums have ever done. I did vacuum well before I used the Roomba and was very surprised to see the amount of dirt and pet hair that hadn't come off of the carpets or hard wood floors. I also use it in the one room, where Max (the cat) sleeps at night. The floor is painted cement, has more hair, cat food, cat elimination box, floor drain etc. and the Roomba 780 does an excellent job in that environment also. I think there is a little learning curve with any new piece of electronics, even when my background had been computers. This is newer technology and I had to learn a few things with a robot vacuum, before I used it at my house. I found it useful to pick up the chairs, put on the counter and pick up the dinning room chairs and put on the dinning room table, as the Roomba didn't go completely between all the legs, as he was wider than the chair legs and wouldn't go through them to get next to the table. I also empty the hopper, clean the brushes and wipe off all censors with a lint free cloth after each use. I schedule it to run at the same time each day. It works for me. He cleans very well under the bed and around all the corners of the bed, dressers and even in the closet. The closet has two levels of clothing and he goes under all the hanging clothing, doesn't pull anything off the hangers and around all the edges of the closet floor, bathroom floor and around the hard to reach areas of the toilet. I don't think the Roomba is any more noisy than my vacuum. It will get stuck under one particular dresser, as it will go under it and can't seem to find his way out. So I fixed that, by blocking the entrance to get underneath the dresser. Now if I want him to clean underneath I move the dresser out and use the remote to do that area. He also does a much better job of cleaning around the open staircase metal poles to the basement stairwell than I ever did. I schedule him for mostly when I am away and admire what a good job he has done when I return. Occasionally I babysit my young grand-children who love to play with the cat and on the floor, now when they go home they are not nearly so hairy. I would like the next generation of Roomba's to do stairs, walls and windows. I look forward to getting another for our lake home. I love this product!!!!
Pros: Better than canisters, Better than cleaning lady, Better than uprights, Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Large Debris Bin, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly, Quiet
Cons: Can Get Stuck, Does Not Clean Stairs

I have degenerative disk disease and can't vacuum a lot. The Roomba 780 is amazing! No more vacuuming! I have it scheduled to run every day. I have a huge great room 45' x 25 and it does the whole carpeted/hardwood floors and heavy throw rugs in the room. Takes about an hour and it then returns to its base. I only have to empty the bin every other day or so. If I forget it tells me. It also tells me to get my daughter's long hair off the rollers when excessive. The roller cleaning tool is amazing and quick for taking off the hair in one or two sweeps, unlike a regular vacuum cleaner that was disgusting to clean! I have two small dogs and the only time they bark at it is when it talks. One dog tried to give it's ball to it hoping it would bump it so he could fetch it...LOL. Next is the Scooba for washing my kitchen and bathroom floors! If it works as good as this, no more backaches!!

I bought this to add to my robot collections! I got to say this one really clears Pet hairs Very well. When i say well. i meant It does not even get stuck to the roller. I have problem cleaning those in 5th and 6th series irobot. And so far it has done justice for me to upgrade my robot to this one. The sad thing tho, is i have to buy from USA and carry it over to my country. Taiwan. Just because it(7th series) is not sold here ( yet). 6th too.. I hope they bring in to Taiwan soon. Because i want to buy another 2 more..
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Extends Functionality, Inconspicuous Design, Increases Performance
Cons: Separate Accessories

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a product. I skeptically purchased the Roomba 780 nearly four months ago because I was absolutely frustrated with the amount of hair my rottweiler sheds. I had to sweep twice a day just to keep balls of fur from accumulating in every corner. I have all hardwood floors and sweeping is not as effective as vacuuming because it pushes the hair around rather than lift it from the floor. I have an old apartment with few electrical outlets, making vacuuming a huge production. The Roomba surprised me, my family and my friends, all of whom had their doubts about its effectiveness. While not perfect, it does a good job of picking up the hair and keeping my floors clean. Of course, it cannot get into tight spaces (although it does go under most furniture) so I still need to sweep once in a while. However, it does not get stuck on things and really does a good job of covering the great majority of my floors. There have been times when the robot ignores the virtual wall / lighthouse, and that can be a little annoying. Also, this machine requires maintenance. You must empty it out and clean the brushes after each use, something which I have no problem with considering the fact that I do not have to do the heavy lifting of vacuuming. I view it as a fair exchange. ;) All in all, the Roomba 780 is good product. It has exceeded my expectations, especially with respect to picking up the dog hair. Plus, it is a hilarious thing to own and the value in laughs when you show it off is the icing on the cake when considering whether to purchase.

I was skeptical at the price but since I've had it has done everything that it suggested it would do. My house is fully carpeted with only a small amount of non carpeted areas. I also have parrots so their a mess under their stand. I keep it docked near the bird stand & it will always clean under their, making my house look tidy all the time!!! It is very thorough with cleaning, it finds it's way into every room & thorough in each room & I am surprised that people complain about it being noisy. It IS after all a vacuum, what do you expect :) It is certainly a lot quieter than my normal vacuums. It does go for the recommended charge time of 90 mins, I LOVE that I can schedule it once only for every day & what ever time I choose. I would buy this item again.

Didn't know how dirty my home was.

I had no idea how dirty my "pristine" home was before purchasing "George" one year ago. He is used two or more times a week. With the exception of noise, there isn't anything detrimental to be said. Living here in the Sonoran desert it's an ongoing battle with dust. When George first cleaned my carpets I was astonished by the fully packed debris bin. Now, it is great fun to let George run in front of my friends and then show them how much filth he has collected from what they viewed as my very clean home. I still get the biggest kick out of doing something relaxing while George is working. Even if you think you might possibly like an iRobot I recommend you give it a try.
