Better than I expected

I have mine set to run every morning before I get up. The amount of dog hair it will pick up is impressive. I have carpet, rugs and tile. It transitions without any problem and cleans everything! I have a good quality vacuum that I use once a week. I don't have to empty it much at all. The 780 gets the job done very well. My only complaint is that it doesn't get into corners! That's when the regular vacuum has to be used. I love that it senses where the dirty spots are and goes over the repeatedly until they are clean. Now I feel comfortable letting my Grand Daughter crawl on the floor! I was very hesitant buying this model due to the price. I've had the unit working every day for 6 months. Now,I don't regret it in the least! I would suggest to EVERYONE that they spend the extra money and go with the top of the line. You won't regret it! As I am typing this, I have the unit upstairs hunting for dust bunnies in the bedrooms! I love it!
Pros: Cleans under the bed, Easy To Use, Inconspicuous Design, Picks up LOTS of dog hair
Cons: Gets stuck some times

Love at first sight and still in love

I bought this for my Sister-in-Law that had a baby just learning to crawl and two dogs that shed faster than she could keep up. She was so amazed at how well it worked by evidence of no dog hair on her babies clothes, I decided to get one for myself. I have two dogs, one with needle like hair that burrows itself into everything and the other dog that doesn't just shed, but molts. I programmed it to deliver it's goodness every night at midnight and woke to a clean house and a full tray or hair and dirt I hadn't even seen! I have to admit, I was taken aback at the price, but after seeing how effective the machine is, I fully believe it is worth every penny. It's been 8 months now, and it still cleans just as effectively as the day I bought it. Now that the house gets vacuumed everyday, I no longer have a cleaner and that adds up to lots of savings!!

My first robot, the 780

I just received my 780 and am quite pleased with it. I decided not to pre-vacuum before the bot arrived. I have a 100lb German Shep that sheds often. To be honest, I am happy with the 780's ability to pick up dog hair, even though its first few trips in the last two days have needed close supervision, due to the dust bin filling up quite frequently. It's run time isn't as long as I had first anticipated, and is a bit of a let down. As is its ability to pick up hair on the edge of my area carpets (not rugs), that cover area's of my hardwood and tiled floors. It leaves clumps of hair at the edge of the carpets as it is transitioning onto the carpet. This is disappointing, as I have to use my standard Dyson to clean up the remenants. However, overall I consider this a worth while investment for anyone who has a pet that sheds. It does a decent job of keep everything relatively hair free, and it does do an above average job on carpets itself. I give it a 7/10 on cleaning ability, 10/10 for ease of use, and a 8/10 for ease of maintenance, and 8/10 for noise. Good job iRobot, my 780 is a pleasant surprise, and I am looking forward to your next offering.

Love the back and forth motion when dirt detect is on. Also love the loomks! This roomba cleans better than any I've owned. Slightly taller it seems than 500 series. Cleans great. Touch screen is nice, but can scratch easily and may cause it's stylish impact to be faulted. Maybe a roomba screen protector will come out! [...], other than those few flaws, great robot.

Its almost a week since we got the Roomba and we love it. It does need frequent cleanup though, but it does a great job and its quick!

Is my room clean? Well to be honest, I thought it was.I vacuum my room everyday with my upright(good brand to, when I got my Roomba 780 I put it on the home base overnight. The next morning I sent it to work, sitting on the sofa watching it work, thinking it might have a little in bin after it gets done, after 20 or 30 minutes of cleaning I stopped it, removed the bin looked at it completely shocked. After 20 minutes of cleaning the bin was almost full of everything hair, dust, dirt you name it, it's in there. After that I'm thinking, wow I should have got one sooner. Watching this robot clean my floor where I hardly ever clean, going over the same spot more then once I never do that, but it did. The price is a little on the high side but it's worth every penny to me, I would buy it again. All I can say is try it, you will be surprised when you look at the bin the first time. This is my first Roomba, but it won't be the last. I also want to say this thing will look great in any home the design is, the only word I can think of beautiful. Highly recommend getting one , you will love it.And my floor type is loop carpet if anyone was wondering.

Fantastic improvements

I have been using my 500 series Roomba for a couple years and loved it except for the daily cleaning necessary having carpet and cats. I installed tile throughout my house last year and now REALLY love my Roomba (and Scooba) but it was showing it's age. I purchased the Roomba 780 and received it this week. I am VERY happy with the new design and operation. It navigates much better and runs much longer than the 500. It is much easier to clean and is very quiet compared to my 500 model. It doesn't even interfere with my naps!! Lazy Man Matt

Time saver

I bought my 780 in the hopes that it would save me time from vacuuming - which it truly has, 10 fold!! I set him to clean while we are all away at work/school and come home to a perfectly vacuumed house. Although I must admit I only use BOB during the weekdays to keep the pet hair (Labrador) managed on our floors. On the weekends I use my "other" vacuum to pick up the finer dust that BOB misses because of lack of suction power. That being said he does exactly what I needed him for. Bob is not without maintenance though. About once a month I take him apart. Remove the main cover plate and vacuum his inner parts. Darn dog hair gets in every nook and cranny and builds up under the cover plate like a mat. Its nasty and cleaning the brushes/rotating heads is a definite necessity. In my perfect irobot world I would like to see a sealed bottom cover plate that won't allow dog hair to get into all the nooks and crannies. But I have to admit it does a pretty amazing job. I'm a believer in the value of my time, and the amount BOB saves me in vacuuming, I will definitely buy another.
