Saved My Lungs

I went into this thinking we'd save some time (and noise and bending over) cleaning, both vacuuming and sweeping. Yes, we did save a little time and noise, although that was mostly offset by the effort needed to prepare rooms for and maintain the roomba. The unexpected benefit was really not the time saved, but rather the incredible amount of dust that our little roomba picks up. It not only gets under the beds, tables and chairs where we might not sweep or vacuum very often, but it also just sucks up massive amounts of dust, hairs, fibers, pollen, etc. including particles that you can't even see! Even on what looks like a nice clean hardwood, tile or pergo floor the dustbin always gets full! In a matter of a few cleanings of my bedroom, I went from coughing and sniffling virtually every night to completely blissful sleep. It's also loads of fun to watch this thing work.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Deep Cleaning Ability, Picks up dust
Cons: Can Get Stuck

Worth the money

I had iRobot Roomba 780 for almost a month now. I live in condominium approx. 1200 square feet, hardwood troughout, except for fringed rag in my bedroom. I also have 3 adult cats. Roomba does a great job of maintaining my house cat hair free. I had to continuously collect "dust bunnies" during the week troughout my place. The last time I actually vacuumed myself, was right before I got my Roomba. My place looks clean every day; Roomba is programmed to clean when I am not at home, so the noise is not an issue at all. I was concerned that Roomba will get caught up in the fringe of the rag, but it goes on and off the rag without any problems. I love this product and would recommend it to any pet owner.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use

works for us

This is our first Roomba. It works surprisingly well. I'm amazed how well it gets under and around things. And it seems to get everything that it should, even though it's pattern seems rather chaotic. I didn't realize that it would be necessary to empty it out and remove hair from the rollers after every use. The benefit is that you know right away how well it is working because you see all the dirt and see what it found. But the disadvantage is that it doesn't seem like the "scheduler" feature will be very useful unless it is part of your routine to check and clean it every day that it ran itself on the schedule. I like that it can tell us if its bin is full of dirt, but since it can tell it is full, it ought to have an option to announce that it is full and stop where it is or head back to the dock. Doesn't seem like there's much point in continuing once it is full. The battery life is really good so far. We've had cases where we saw the bin was full, emptied it, cleaned the rollers and started it up again, stopped it again when it got full, started it again. Now that we've had it a month, it isn't filling up as fast. I don't know if that is because we run it more often, or if there was a "backlog" of pet hair under the couch and cabinet where Roomba manages to get under.
Pros: Easy To Use, Vacuums under things
Cons: Fills up but keeps going, Needs regular cleanout

Impressed so far

So far we're very impressed with the Roomba 780. All our floors are hardwood/tile and get really dusty with our kids and pets. On it's first cleaning it collected way more dirt and dust than our normal sweeping could get. It maneuvers surprisingly well around table & chair legs. It also does a pretty thorough job covering the whole room. Hoping it keeps working well for a long time.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Increases Performance

Like a small pet

I would highly recommend as a supplement to our wonderful cleaning lady who comes only twice a month. We use it almost everyday. It picks up all the human hair and bit of nails, dust, paper that we see lying around. Quite amusing to watch. We left it running in a bedroom once. Then we heard its stop signal. Went in the bedroom and finally found it hiding in a corner where it stopped b/c it choked on a iPod wire. Had to help it along. Then it was fine again.

Owner with 3 long haired cats

The Roomba 780 was the best choice for me. I didn't have to worry about starting it with the scheduling feature and the virtual walls and lighthouses were incredibly convenient when I needed the Roomba to avoid rooms with clutter on the floor and cross the entire house to find more rooms to vacuum. I was impressed with its performance since I have three long haired cats and they shed clumps of hair the size of hamsters. I have to perform routine cleaning on the Roomba regularly, but the time it takes to disassemble it and clean it is far less than the time it would take me to sweep the floors. I have dark hardwood floors so dirt is more noticable, particularly if the Roomba hasn't been run. On carpets, it's pretty impressive given it's size. It has no problem cleaning up cat hair, dirt and even cat litter. It's a bit noisy, but a lot quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner. With the scheduling feature, I have it set to turn on late at night or when no one is home so the noise doesn't matter.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Hardwood floor friendly, Time saving
Cons: Not cat hair proof

Roomba 780 Rocks

did a months research and read about every robot on the market, almost bought a 5 series but after spending some time on the phone with a irobot csr, i made the decision to get the 780. could not be happier. i was worried about the 5 series as its complaints were short battery life and hair etc getting stuck in the bearings and brushes. the 7 series fixes all those issues. I have a 1000 sq ft condo, 1 floor, and all hardwood or tile, except a couple of carpet runners. its flat except to get into the kitchen there is about a 1.5 inch transition strip up on to the tile floor. roomba gets over it and in there no problem. I have a large great dane mix so pet hair is a constant issue for me. drives me nuts. first time i used it i did a total vacuum with my upright vacuum as i hadnt cleaned in awhile and i wanted to see how roomba did. i locked it in the bedroom and he cleaned it in a bout 10 - 15 minutes, dust bin was 1/2 full! mostly from under the bed io assume, but it did a great job. then into the rest of the house, he sucked up more than another full bin off the floors. i was amazed. he got everywhere! and then i watched him dock and recharge, very cool. its fathers day and im running him for the second time, almost a full bin in the bedroom and have been running him for over an hour in the main house. stopped him once to empty the bin as it was really full. im ok with that as its been 12 days sice i ran him last. I have not done scheduling but will try to get into it for sure, this will keep the bin from getting full halfway thru a full cleaning. roomba seems to do well with my cords etc and not get stuck, but the the less on the floor the better job it can do obviously, so take a little time to give it the best chance to clean. I move the dining chairs off the floor, move a powerbar off the floor and fold up the dog bed in front if the fireplace. all in all, it was a lot of money but now that i have it i am super happy i got one. this thing is very cool to watch lol. i find it effective, quiet and entertaining to have it running around the house while i watch golf. if you are even hesitating about buying one but would like a robot vacuum, buy the 780! only con i have found is the dog isnt sure wether its trying to kill him yet.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly, Quiet

First I love Ruby. She cleans everyday my 2200 square foot of tile. She does a darn near perfect job everyday. Sometimes she gets lost in the far end of the house and calls out for help; but seldom does this happen.(her maximum battery time seems to be about 2.75 hours of working) I did put 3/8" felt self stick bumpers on her bumpers as she sometimes bumped wooden furniture legs hard enough to cause noticeable scratches. This solved the problem. She works anywhere from about an hour to 2.5 hours each day. I guess it depends on her attitude. Most days she is going about 2 hours. I've never let her dust bin get full enough to know if she will alert me...I think she would? I am amazed each time I dump her bin as to what she finds. My house is spotlessly clean, yet she finds dirt/dust/hair/pills/coins/bugs, and countless other things that I have dropped. I have visiting dogs frequently and she scoops of their hair the next morning. I cannot imagine life without my Ruby. (my previous one was a Ruby color and thus the name) Oh, I put a coin or two under the legs of low furniture so she can get in and out easily. I have altered the places she used to get stuck so she will not get into a place she cannot get out of.(seldom happens) Well worth the money!!! I do not use the remote at all.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Deep Cleaning Ability, Hassle Free Operation, Large Debris Bin, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly, Quiet
