I LOVE THIS THING!

This thing makes my old 500 series look like a dustmop. I have a cat and Randy (short for Random, based on the first time I watched it go around the apartment) is great for keeping the kitty litter tracking down between vacuumings. I can go two weeks without getting out the Dyson if I run Randy every few days - picks up cat hair just great (even during the "spring shed") and really does a nice job. He learned my 750 sq. ft. apartment within a couple of uses and he can do the whole thing on one charge with juice left to spare. I love the bigger dustbin - it holds a LOT more than you think it would! Also, the cat, who runs for the hills when the big vacuum is out, mostly ignores this one. Always a plus! It's even picked up spilled pieces of her kibble off the floor, which I find fairly impressive. My only complaint (and not really a big deal) is that it occasionally gets stuck under my dresser, which has a curved piece along the bottom front. If he gets under there (going in through the middle) he sometimes can't figure his way out and gets stuck towards one of the sides. I put one of the virtual walls across my longer dresser so he avoids that one, so it doesn't happen often. All my furniture is on legs, though, so I LOVE the fact that he can get under there, where I can't reach with my conventional vacuum. This thing is quiet enough that you can run it while watching TV and it really won't bother you. I really, really love this vacuum!

We have a Collie,2 little dogs and a baby. We gave our original Roomba (Scheduler) a brother. Read about the IMPROVEMENTS!!! WOW!! indeed!! the first day the 780 went to work it found dirt that the Scheduler didn't... the Improvements are so great that I recommend it to anyone!! We have a tile floor with rugs and Kid bouncy / swing and Roomba maneuvers and works hard!!! our floor is WHITE so you see it all but Roomba works effortlessly to clean our house and does a better job than any upright or human could do!! It's a little pricey but WORTH EVERY PENNY!! my wife can tend to the child while Roomba tends to the house!! Also when Roomba has an error sound listen to it because "It's for a reason!!" He found a cassette tape under the bed one time and was making noises and I was like ?!? and guess what? it was all wound up in the brushes. Roomba tells you when things aren't right! as I said this thing is "THE BEST ROOMBA YET!!!". I am so behind this thing that I could sell them and not feel like I was ripping anyone off!! it's the real deal!

The gadget freak in me pretty much got this for the "gee-whiz" aspect. I have carpeted floors and my expectations were low. I've been pleasantly surprised at how well it cleans. I was worried that the dust chamber was a little small, but since I (or,it) can vacuum more frequently,that is really not much of an issue. Because of it's low profile, it gets under furniture to clean areas that normally would only get cleaned only every decade or so. Only minor issue is that it is intolerant of clutter. They warn you, but I'm a slob.
Pros: Easy To Use, Extends Functionality, Low profile

I own a couple of these they work great. I bought one for my mother it changed her life and mine. Now most of my family members see the results so they are getting their own. no regrets on having not to sweep or vacuum again... P.s I live alone so this definitely helps and adds to my free time not cleaning the floors

I love my new 780 Roomba, its the best thing ever. I keep sending my friends pics of the dirt it picks up in my house. When I first tried it out, i was shocked at how much dirt it picked up. I used my central vaccum the night before, then gone most of the day, that evening I turned it on, and the bin was FULL, i couldnt believe it. Then it was time for the bedrooms, I vaccumed my bedroom about one week before, and let the roomba loose, it had a full bin once it was finished. Anyone with a dog or cat, would love this awesome unit.

My cat's not used to my Roomba yet, but he doesn't like the vacuum cleaner either, so no big deal. The Roomba does a great job; so far I've used it daily. My house is just clean all the time now! :)

We live in NYC and we are amazed about Roomba's capabilities to pick up dirt, dust, and everything else that accumulate on NYC apartments floor. Since we purchased the 780, we have not used our vacuum, yet. Does its job properly, and as long as kept clean (brushes, bearing wheels, etc0 will spare you tons of work. Our place is 1400 sqf and cleaning has not been ever easier. I would recommend anyone to get one of this.

Very happy with my 780. Had it about a month now and I have it set to run 3 times a week. I have an apartment with all hardwood floors. They have NEVER been so clean, especially in the summer with my cat shedding! As others have said, you will still need to manually clean your floors, just much less often. It's great to come home every day and not have to worry about a mess. The virtual light-house units included with the 780 are FANTASTIC. I have my apartment divided into 3 sections and the lighthouses insure each area gets totally clean and nothing skipped. One thing I do have to say is the instructions provided with the unit and not very good. Do yourself a favor and Google "Virtual lighthouse placement" The first or second result there will explain how to use them perfectly! Also I would recommend taping down or otherwise attaching the virtual wall units and the home base to the floor. The Roomba can sometimes bump into them and knock them out of place. Unit is very quiet. You can still watch TV with the volume up a bit and it doesn't seem to bother my downstairs neighbors. A few minor issues: 1. Roomba is not a green device. LED lights on the unit never turn off and there is a constant draw of about 4 watts even when not changing. (measured with a kill-a-watt meter) This is really nothing but I find it annoying that there is no way to turn off the lights at least when it's not in use. 2. The "Clean" stop/start button is located on the top of the unit and is not recessed. I had an issue several times when my Roomba would make its way under my coffee table and press into the button turning itself off. I fixed this by attaching a small piece of wood to the bottom of the table where it was hitting, but really I see this as bad design. 3. There is a serial port on the unit but it's really only for unsupported modifications or diag by iRobot. Would be nice if there was the ability to update software/firmware if necessary in the future to add or improve features.
