it is great :) because i have two dogs one is chihuahua ( so dosent really need it ) but the other one is a king charles cavalier spaniel.. he sheds everyday. most of what the roomba picks up is his fur.... his fur is all over my table , clothes, bed, sofa etc.. at least the roomba picks his fur off the ground for me each day :) - im in college and living at my own home, so i dont have time to vacuum everyday , i only clean the whole apartment once a week if i have time sometimes every 2 weeks , so roomba dose the job for me :)
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Pet Friendly
Cons: Can Get Stuck

Second chance - Success!

After my first experience, I was returning it (see first review). All still true, but I decided to work with the 780 to see if it could be useful. In a larger house, it needs some guidance getting around, so we just take it to the room areas that need cleaning and let it go, blocking access to other areas so it won't "wander". We now clean our first floor with it in 2-3 sessions, about 3500 sf of space. It cleans very well, you just have to keep an eye on it. Now it's earned a permanent home!

Great Vacuuming Assistant!

I have owned the 780 model for a little over a year now, and it is fantastic! I schedule it to run three days a week, and it collects a fair amount of crud even though I am very clean and live alone. My floor plan has three bedrooms (12'x12', 12'x12', 14'x17'), a common area (10'x10'), and two restrooms that I have virtual walls protecting. I recently bought a Miele upright, and vacuumed the second floor (where I have the robot stationed), then looked in the bag to see how much the Roomba missed. Final answer: not much. The bag was almost as clean as when I started! The only negative that I have is that the robot has a tendency to get stuck at the top of my stairs every once in a while (about once every 10 cleans). One of the wheels falls off the edge when it approaches at the wrong angle, and boom, vacuum session over! So far, it has never fallen off the stairs, and I just move it back to the charging station when I get home. The other recommendation that I will make is that someone interested in this product pick up some good, low-self-discharge NiMH C batteries and a good, computer-controlled charger. I was using Energizer batteries for the virtual walls, but they have a low capacity and a lousy, timer based charger. I was recharging once every other week. Now that I have good batteries (4500 mAh), I am charging once every six months.

We have named him Dominic and he a part of our family now!I think if you pay atention to his maintance every day you will not expernce any issues , Like everything else TLC is needed. It will do its work as long as you Maintain him , as strings and things must always be removed (at least he gets them)which is not hard to do. TLC is the key to him and in return he will keep up your housekeeping in between your weelky cleaning,I have 8,000 SQ ft and 4 cats there is hardly any hair on the floors this is not a replacement of total cleaning but a big help during the week. I cant say enough good things about him .I m going to buy another one for the 2nd floor and one for the basement too.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Extends Functionality, He cleans up very good, He needs a girlfriend, Inconspicuous Design, Increases Performance, Its the best investment, We named him Dominic
Cons: A little loud but its ok, Some times he gets stuck, There aren`t any really

We depend on our Roomba on a daily basis! With 3 dogs that shed and lots of under couch/bed areas - our house is much cleaner when Roomba is hard at work.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Inconspicuous Design, No more dog hair

Two Labradors and mostly hardwood/tile floors with some throw rugs. We let it run whenever we leave the house and are amazed with the dog hair, dirt, dust it picks up. Highest recommendation for pet owners! No more getting on my knees to vacuum under the beds!
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Gets under beds tables
Cons: NONE

Verified Purchase:No
I am on a maternity leave with my four month old as well as studying for my master's degree at the University. I decided to treat the household with an iRobot in order to make the most positive use of my time with my little one, during those hectic times. So we purchased a Roomba 780 about a month ago. Overall I like the product - after all it´s relieving me of the most tedious housework there is! However, it is not completely problem free. I don't mind that it's noisy or the fact that it certainly takes it sweet time to complete it´s tasks. However, I have noticed that it does not seem to function very well on my black kitchen tiles. In fact, it seems to use every chance to escape that area. I literally have to lock it in the kitchen using the virtual wall, in order to have it vacuumed. On the contrary, the Roomba has singled out another room in the house which it likes to clean obsessively, until the batteries run out - hence neglecting the rest of the space. I also solved that with the virtual wall, or sometimes simply by closing that door. That being said, I really don't get the feeling that the Roomba is "learning my space" as I use it. I really just seems to wonder about aimlessly every time I start it. My strategy is to start it often enough in the hopes it will gradually catch most of the dust. At last, I was disappointed with how fast the robot became scratched and drawn. After only two or three cleaning sessions it looked like it was already two or three years old! I suspect that the cause is that some of my furniture's have feats that are almost exactly the same height as the Roomba. In those cases the sensors do not seem to detect the furniture's, causing the Roomba to drive into them with full force. This would be an area of future improvements in my suggestion - either improve the sensors or add a simple rubber padding, which would probably go a long way. But despite the flaws mentioned above I rated the product with four stars. Though the Roomba 780 is far from being perfect, I am quite happy with it and would recommend it to anyone with a threshold-free home.
Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use
