Sleek and fast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this drive for securely transferring files to an external site, with security set up through the Samsung Magician software included with the drive. Without a USB4 port on my computer, I don’t get the maximum speed, but the write speed is still an impressive 1725 Mbps—a huge jump from any other external drive I own. The included cable is a must for optimal performance. The drive is incredibly compact, barely noticeable in my pocket so be careful not to lose it, and its read speed is equally impressive at 1989 Mbps, as measured with the basic Samsung Magician on an Alienware ACT1250. I plan to invest in a true USB4 card for my computer to reach top speeds. Highly recommended for anyone looking to speed up data transfers.

Extremely Fast and Compact SSD

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung P7 Portable SSD checks all the boxes for everything you could want in an external drive.
The hardware design is extremely compact and lightweight which makes the drive very portable. I appreciate the subtle leather looking texture on the top of the enclosure that adds a premium feel. The bottom of the case has a softer non-slip grip applied to it so the drive can stay in place when lying flat on a surface.
USB4 capabilities also means that the SSD has super fast transfer speeds. On my Desktop Windows PC I'm able to install and run games directly off the drive. Samsung Magician software also made it really easy to check and install the latest firmware.
Overall, I'm extremely impressed with how fast the read and write speeds are. It's fast enough for both content creation and gaming.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Portable SSD drive experience

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Portable P7 SSD is an awesome sleek compact storage device. It’s perfect for on-the-go setups due it’s size and portability. This drive fits perfectly in my travel bag for work. I was able to test the drive by moving large movie files and photos rather quickly without issue. This size of the device is about the width and height of a credit card. This makes the P7 super convenient to carry around. I tested the compatibility with my Samsung phone and PC the SSD and it works flawless. I already have some Samsung NVME drives so I’m familiar with Samsung’s Magician software. I ran a few benchmark tests and wasn’t able to get the advertised speeds from my Thunderbolt USB 4 ports on my gaming PC, but they were pretty close. To put it into perspective however, getting 32000mb/s read speeds for a portable device wouldn’t have been possible a few years back. I love the design and its portability and can’t wait to use the P7 on my next vacation. I recommend this one for someone who needs fast and reliable storage at home and on the go.

Excellent speeds, especially for external

The product comes nearly packaged with a certified high-speed cable (lots of others won't provide the same speeds), which I found to be a delightful surprise.
I immediately updated firmware with Samsung Magician and played around with speed tests.
All results were excellent considering my slightly outdated laptop.

The drive never got hot during the tests.
Turning on a feature with Magician can increase speeds but REQUIRES you to manually disengage the drive in windows before removing.
I chose to turn this feature off after noticing only slightly higher speeds during my tests.

Overall, it's a highly impressive external drive that I would absolutely recommend, if speed is a need.

Tiny device, yet a HUGE amount of storage.

I have a very large library of photos stored online, but up until now, I didn't have an easy and efficient way to keep local backups. This tiny device (only slightly larger than a credit card) now holds every digital photo I've ever taken, with room to spare for several more years of memories!
Backup drives have been around for years, but the older external drives I've used in the past were slow, clunky, and frustrating to work with. This SSD is blazing fast and runs on a single USB-C cable.
No separate power brick or cord clutter to mess with.
The Samsung P7 has given me real peace of mind knowing all my family photos are safely stored locally in my home. Using Samsung Magician makes it simple to keep the drive optimized and updated, and file transfers are effortless. It’s an excellent little drive.
