problems.... 1. did not import W2 correctly. down loaded it 3 times and filled/left blank different fields each time. 2. when filling out college info on dealing it would pick American oppoptunity/lifetime learning credit with out telling why it picked it, and it did not pick the one that would give me the biggist refund. (1st year of college) 3. it dont let you know you can not electronic file, due to limitation till you try to e-file (multi college, farm income, ECT)
as a returning user, it gets easier each year. Only glitch was it wouldn't accept a payment date in Jan. for my last quarterly payment, even though it isn't due 'til 15 Jan.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I have been using a tax professional to do my taxes for years but her rate has gone up each year and gotten expensive. Last year I had her do my taxes and file but I also did them with H&R Block as a check and the results were almost identical. This year I did my own taxes and filed using H&R Block and saved hundreds. Since I had to assemble all the information for her anyway it's fairly easy to just put the information into H&R Block software instead. I have used Turbo Tax in the past and in my opinion this is easier and less confusing. I will continue to use H&R Block in the future.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
