Some simple things are more difficult than they need to be. For example, (1) entering the data from a consolidated brokerage statement requires going through multiple separate entry sequences rather than a simple chaining of 1099-INT, DIV, etc. (2) after a return is mostly completed and the user is manually reviewing it, trying to answer the question "where did that number come from?" has no easy traceback process.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I keep wondering why e-filing is prohibited for me
on October 19, 2026

When I first sent it in, it was rejected which I understood. After that, it requested a number from my 2023 form which I provided. However, after I provided it, it continued to ask me to provide it again and again and again. So to this day, I have not been able to e-file it, which is a great disappointment to me. I do not know why they did not accept my 2023 entry. I did not get a rejection notice, but the numbers just disappeared again and again and again. It looks like I will have to print it and use the US Postal Service to send it in. I will try one more time to e-file it. I spent lots of time trying to e-file it.

I bought this because I was put off at the higher price of Turbo Tax which I had been using for several years. I'll be getting Turbo Tax for next year's taxes because this program had so many problems.

I switched from Turbo Tax this year and am super glad I did. The only negative with the H&R Block software is the review process. After the review (that part was great) and when hitting submit, it brought up an error that needed to be fixed that should have been caught in the review.

My only complaint is that there is no option to include an explanatory statement. My wife was issued an incorrect SSA-1099 from Social Security that we have been trying to get corrected since January 5th. The opportunity to explain this in detail with the e filing would have been helpful. I've been using this software for at least a dozen years and find it accurate and easy to navigate.
Pros: Easy to prepare

The software still needs to include all forms and handle things like qbi on k1s. However the addition of the AI assistant pushed my rating from 3 stars to 4.
