I love the BandBox!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This JBL BandBox is an incredible piece of portable tech! It is small but mighty meaning it is easy to take to your next gig or to a friend's for some impromptu karaoke. Also it has the great sound quality you come to expect from JBL. I especially love the easy configurability in the app. You can easily adjust 3 different audio streams for that perfect balance. The app also has great features like an adjustable metronome and drums. It was also super easy to get the Bluetooth connection setup on my phone! On top of the BandBox it has a cool pixel display which shows various need to know things such as what EQ settings you are using and the volume of each audio stream.

Surprisingly big sound from a small box

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've played guitar for over 45 years and to be honest I didn't have high hopes for this speaker. Color me shocked at the sheer number of preset sound and amp combos this thing could produce using just the app. Set up was dead easy. Download the app, plug in the guitar and start exploring. The British crunch setting was my favorite right off the top. Only limitation is that it's not that big a difference from humbuckers to single coil pickups. But the guitar volume knob was very responsive and allowed the ability to dial it cleaner or dirtier. Shocking level of volume as well. Good variety of effects like tremolo, chorus, phaser etc. Nice clean sounds as well and even an envelope filter funk setting. I'm trying to work out the AI play along feature but it looks promising. Super fun product and very convenient to use as a living room practice amp without having to fire up my large tube amps.

A mini karaoke box that works for great as a speak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Charges up quickly and good duration, awesome sounds from a brick sized item, the various modes are appreciated for the different types of guitar players, clean to distorted and smooth as glass. The Bluetooth interaction is great for learning to play along any song to get the rhythm of it.

Great blender for backing tracks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Stem AI’s ability to stream any song via Bluetooth and have the Bandbox Solo spit out vocals, drums, and guitar in real time helps me with on-demand practice mixes. The AI feature is on-device, so it doesn’t need an internet connection. Its built-in tuner and ability to shift pitch and key are very helpful for matching vocals with instrument tuning.
It uses the JBL One app to customize workflow and USB-C for charging. It’s not picky about the charging cord. My experience with battery life matches the 6-hour claim. The volume is strong enough to fill the room. It won’t dominate a desk that already has a keyboard controller, and its display fades away when you’re playing.
I can see Bandbox Solo shine in a few scenarios:
- If you sketch ideas on keys or in a DAW and want to easily add a credible guitar part, this is a brilliant all-in-one solution. The recording interface alone justifies its price for some.
- If finding backing tracks and crafting tones are barriers, this device sufficiently reduces the barrier to practice a second instrument effectively.
- If simplified workflow is what you are after, this device also makes the process a joy, allowing you to stream a song and play along in seconds.

Amazing but missed Oportunity for JBL to stand out

If this could connect to other Speakers to create a big, loud PA-System (PartyBoost, Connect, ...) it would be worth every amount of money. Right now as it is, its a very nice practice Amp.
