No way to replace failed sensors

After reading most of the reviews I see I'm an outlier here, but in my case the refrigerator sensor stopped connecting to the main unit after years of use while my freezer sensor kept right on working. Changed the batteries in the fridge sensor...no change. Followed the instructions in the manual to reset the whole system (3 times!)...no change. Sent an email to the company requesting a replacement for the fridge sensor (which they must certainly offer just as any other company selling a similar product would). Instead, I was told they do not sell individual sensor replacements and was directed to just reset the system, which I had already done 3 times. So apparently Acurite believes that their devices never fail and will always work, which is absurd. Any WiFi device can fail after years of use, but apparently theirs are not subject to that reality. Wound up reordering this device just so I can finally (hopefully) be able to see the temperature in my refrigerator once again. Ridiculous. In spite of this, I would still recommend this product because it appears this doesn't happen very often.
We use it to monitor our backup fridge/freezer year round. When the fridge died suddenly during a heatwave the monitor alerted us right away and we saved all the food. We use it also to do testing. For example, for a while we put a sensor in the attic crawlspace and the living room, and logged their daily highs and lows. This helped us decide if the attic needs more vents and/or more insulation, or not.
So pleased that I can look and see that my freezer is working properly without actually opening the door! A wonderful invention that a friend recommended and am grateful!
I bought two of these, the second for a friend who is very concerned about power failures. The display of 24 hour and all-time min/max temperatures is very reassuring. It isn't being fooled by brief door openings. Resetting min/max is a pain, with three button presses for each of four numbers. A single clear-everything would be nice to have.
Perfect for monitoring my new garage refrigerator/freezer. It's like having a digital temperature control, and has shown some intermittent freezer issues for a warranty service!
We are very satisfied with the digital refrigerator/freezer thermometer. The WiFi distance is really good. It is nice to know for sure what is happening within that outside refrigerator. The tech support lady who helped me decide on this did a really great job of explaining just how this unit works. Thank You. Mr and Mrs. Benscoter Deadwood, Oregon
