20 days in with Cirqa

It's ok. I expected more. Not a serious athlete but I work out a lot and find some of the features and the app presentation of data quirky and not overly informative. Like during an activity, there is nothing on the screen telling me live time performance. The only thing there is a black screen and the option to stop the work out. And when I open the app and see all these activities that it detected, I can't go in and code what they were (like walking, or working out, etc). The only way to do that is to start the activity in the app.
And I'd like to have easier, more intuitive statistics about my day with recommendations more like a whoop or an apple watch. So overall, the unit is nice but the app interface is sort of clunky and should be updated. Lastly, I would have liked if it came with a back up band.

Its okay... charging cable is annoying

I gave up my Whoop for the CIRQA and am generally satisfied. Honestly, the battery doesn't last as long as the Whoop and the proprietary charger is annoying as the charging cable is too short and never where I need it. I have to buy two more cables (one for travel and one for my desk). I can't believe a USB c charging port wouldn't suffice. I do like the fact there is not a "membership" fee like Whoop.

Band material needs improvements
on September 1, 2026

I recently purchased the Garmin Cirqa Smart Band in black, and overall, I really like the product. However, I have been experiencing an issue with the band material.
The band takes a very long time to dry after getting wet, even from normal activities such as showering or washing my hands. Because of this, I often have to remove the band and wait for it to dry completely, which defeats the purpose of wearing a fitness and health-tracking band throughout the day.
Unfortunately, when the band remains wet for an extended period, it also develops an unpleasant odor. This is currently an issue with my band, and I have tried washing it with soap, but the odor remains.
I really enjoyed the Cirqa itself, but I believe the band could benefit from some improvements. It would be great to see Garmin offer alternative band materials that dry more quickly, such as a material similar to the WHOOP band, or provide a silicone band option. Unfortunately, I had to return the product.

A welcome addition

After 3 weeks, I enjoy having the option of a screen less wearable vs a watch. It doesn’t always pick up every movement but you’re given the option to review, which is helpful. The device is a bit thicker than I expected, it can get stuck on my long sleeve shirts. I appreciate the device for passive monitoring but shift to my watches for workout use. I will keep using it and hope that a few updates on activity monitoring come along.

It took a bit to get used to but I use the CRIQA in place of my HRM for walking and riding my bike on my Wahoo trainer. It has worked very well and the battery life is awesome! I can see this device largely replacing my smart watch and bicycle computer.

Garmin Cirqa early impressions
on August 31, 2026

Pros: can wear a mechanical watch while still collecting all Garmin metrics; comfortable and light weight. Good to have a biceps band option; button to start/stop activities and alarms; reasonably priced. Does everything I expected.
Cons: software is still very buggy; band attachment method is not well-engineered - it's too fidgety. Module is larger than competition. Garmin sleep tracking algorithm could be better (this is true across Garmin devices).
I expect the software bugs will be resolved with time. 2nd gen Cirqa should consider a different way to attach band as well as reducing the module size.

Quirky

Not bad, just very quirky. Sometimes it tracks stuff and other times it doesn’t. Could be great, but very inconsistent

Not a Smart Watch Substitute
on August 30, 2026

I thought I would try the CIRQA Smart Band as a possible replacement for my old Garmin Epix Gen 2 watch. It is not that i don't like my watch, its just that I have other nice watches that I like to wear but am reluctant to do so because I, admittedly, am probably over addicted to the constant stream of info that I receive from my Garmin watch. The CIRQA Smart Band seemed like a perfect solution...I could wear my nice watches and the CIRQA and still receive all the stats that are important to me.
My exercise routine consists mainly of walking indoor, walking outdoor, strength training, indoor rowing and treadmill running. Of those exercises, the only one that my CIRQA produced reasonable accurate training info was the strength training - mainly since it doesn't involve measuring distances. I know that the CIRQA does not have GPS so it is impossible for it to measure distance without you phone. The problem is that without measuring distances on those type of exercises, it does not produce reliable distance or calorie count info (those are the two most important stats for me). So, I continue to use the Garmin watch when exercising and the CIRQA only when I am not wearing my Garmin watch and just want to continue having steps, calories, heart rate, sleep stats, etc. info available. I found it to be accurate for that type of information. You just have to remember to go thru the steps to change your primary device from watch to CIRQA and vice versa ( a bit annoying). In conclusion, the CIRQA is a good device to provide supplemental info when you do not want to wear a smart watch, but it is not a substitute for a good smart watch. PS. I just ordered the new Fenix 9 Pro so I may not be wearing my other dress watches much...at least until the newness wears off.
