Two weeks with the Galaxy Z Fold 8

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for two weeks, so this is a first-impressions review rather than a long-term one. But two weeks was enough to change how I use a phone. The wide format is the story. I actually bought the Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra together, expecting the Ultra, the taller, more traditional format to become my daily phone. It hasn't. The Ultra has the more impressive spec sheet, but the Fold 8 is the one I keep reaching for. At 201g it disappears in my pocket, and the 5.5-inch cover screen is wide enough that I genuinely don't unfold it for messages, calls or quick browsing. That was the real surprise: folded, it's already a good phone. Unfolded is where it justifies the price. I watched The Dating App Killer on the 7.6-inch screen and forgot I was holding a phone. True crime is mostly dim interiors and night footage, and that's exactly where cheaper screens turn into grey mud, here the blacks stayed black and I could still see detail in the dark scenes. Day to day it handles everything I throw at it, browsing, documents, email side by side, without a stutter or any noticeable heat. Battery comfortably gets me through to the evening on mixed use. The honest downsides: I miss a dedicated telephoto lens when I want to zoom in on something, and I'm still slightly precious with the hinge in a way I never was with an ordinary phone. Two weeks in, the Fold 8 is the one that stays in my pocket — and I genuinely didn't expect to say that. Overall, It's Amazing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose to purchase the Fold 8 after having every Fold phone since the Fold 2 because the new form factor was a breath of fresh air! Every phone has been long and narrow and while I was tempted to get the Fold 8 Ultra, once I saw what the Fold 8 was going to be I immediately jumped at the opportunity to own one. This phone is absolutely amazing and looks great in Lavender. The shorter wider front display makes reading and typing so much easier than on the Fold 7 which I upgraded from. Websites, books and social media scrolling looks great unfolded and even more epic once unfolded. This phone is a video media consumption dream. I can NEVER return back to the old style of foldable, Fold 8 is the now and it will undoubtedly be the future of foldable too. I love this phone!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Galaxy Z Fold 8 feels like Samsung finally got the formula just right. The size, weight, screens, and overall design come together in a way that makes the phone incredibly hard to put down.
The cover screen is fantastic for everyday use, especially when you're commuting on the subway. It's the perfect size for checking messages, scrolling, responding to emails, or getting something done quickly without having to unfold the phone. It feels natural and much more convenient than carrying around a traditional large phone.
Then you open it up, and that's where the Fold 8 really gets exciting. The inner screen is essentially a mini tablet in your pocket. It's the perfect size for watching videos, reading articles, browsing the web, or just having more room to get things done. There's something genuinely satisfying about unfolding it and suddenly having all that extra screen real estate.
What I really love is that it doesn't feel like you're carrying a phone that happens to fold. It feels like you're getting two devices in one, and both screens have a purpose. The cover screen handles the quick, everyday stuff, while the inner display is there when you want a more immersive experience.
I've had a lot of phones over the years, but there's something different about the Fold 8. Every time I unfold it, there's still that little bit of excitement. It's one of those devices that makes you want to keep using it just because of how enjoyable it is
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Im loving my z fold 8. I use it mostly in tablet mode but it's a joy to use in folded form for quick access. I've used it for work, play, and photos. Its fun to watch videos on.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose to upgrade to the fold 8 from my fold 6. The new form factor is pretty nice: when open landscape is great for videos and reading, and rotating to portrait has been great for Instagram reels and reddit. the only thing I miss is the underscreen camera but overall it's been an upgrade. the front screen is a small and cute form factor but the phone is way more fun when open.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a Z Fold user since the 2nd iteration. As soon as I opened it for the first time I knew I'd never be able to go back. I chose the Z Fold 8 because of the new aspect ratio. I appreciate the wider front screen. It's blazing fast and highly responsive. If you're on the fence, go for it. You won't regret it. Even my dog loves it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned 3 Galaxy Z Fold phones before the Z Fold 8: a Z Fold 3, a Z Fold 6, and a Z Fold 7. Although I love these phones, they always seemed to be a little too narrow and a little too tall. When I saw the Z Fold 8, I knew this was the form factor I had been waiting for, so I chose to trade in my Z Fold 7 and get the Z Fold 8. Now that I have been using it over the past week, I know I made the right choice! This phone is fantastic! It fits perfectly in my hand and the aspect ratios of the outside and inside screens are perfect for media participation consumption. Bravo to Samsung for always thinking outside the box when it comes to their new phones!
