Still getting use to how to use it compared to my previous Shark vacuum, I would much prefer a manual on off switch instead of auto start when you move the vacuum from the base, feel that connection/ interlock will go bad in short order.as it did on my previous shark

Good to great performance w 2 major flaws

Ok, I have already reviewed this product and found it to have good performance overall , Upright mode performance is probably best in the industry, StickMode and Handheld Mode is acceptable for a reason. This vacuum actually has three motors, I believe. One to turn the rollers of the floor unit, a powerful suction motor to power the Upright and another small suction motor to power the handled, up top, which also powers the Stick Mode. The suction from the big canister is very strong, industry leading strong, no complaints. The suction and performance of the small suction motor on top of the Handheld is just acceptable, not going to say is bad, as it does get the job done.
2 Major Flaw Issues: The big canister does not have a fully sealed system when you remove it, and a pile of dirt will fall out of it, not just tiny particles but a big thick pile of dirt and debris. This is a clear design flaw when removing the large canister, because it's a key and special part of the whole Shark Transformer idea and process. Shark should have installed a retractable cover/seal/door that closes each time the large canister is removed, and opens with you put it back. The other major issue is the small handheld's small canister, it's a very inefficient system that is supposed to collect most of the dirt and debris and then be emptied out by the suction system of the vacuum's large canister. When I saw the video on Youtube and this site, I loved the idea, but learned the hard way it's a very inefficient system that (very loudly) probably only gets about 50% of the dirt and debris out of the handheld, while there is a small hole by the filter that collects alot of dirt and debris directly on the filter that the whole suction process from the large canister does not clean out at all, leaving a shockingly dirty filter that can only be cleaned properly, by the difficult process of taking it apart then clean it with a small brush which Shark does not provide but needs to. Summary: The vacuums performance is good but the dirt and debri canister system is so bad, it brings a 4 to 5 star vacuum all the way down to just one star, and I'm not being unfair, BOTH canister systems is A CLEAR MALFUNCTION, poorly sealed and inefficient.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review.

Pleasantly surprised!

Was hopeful, but skeptical, after watching the informercial, however, I was very pleasantly surprised when I received my Shark Transformer! It does everything it was promised to be. The cord does not bother me a bit because it's long enough to accommodate my needs. The fact that it automatically self detects and adjusts for carpet and hardwood is a game changer! As is not having to drag out accessories to use the wand-- it's all there, in one machine. My only issue, as a newbie, is that there were no YouTube videos that I could find to teach me, initially, how to use each button. (EX: How to move between carpet lengths; how to detach the wand; how to remove the canister in order to use the stick option) Other than that, GOLDEN!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Highly Disappointing

I've had nothing but shark vacuums over the years. This one, by far the most disappointing. Now it looks pretty, but that's about as far as it goes. The blue light is constantly on, the suction when you're using the main attachment is good. Although I will say that when you de-transform it to the solo suction tube. Highly disappointing, not near anywhere as powerful as the Sratos model. Overall to heavy, no enough suction in the wand, it takes way too long to turn itself on and off with the smart detection. Overall just way too many bells and whistles.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your continued loyalty to Shark over the years.

We're very sorry to hear that this vacuum has been disappointing, especially when compared to your previous Shark products.

We understand your frustration with the constant blue light, the performance of the wand in handheld mode, the overall weight of the unit, and the delays caused by the smart detection features. It's disappointing when a new product doesn't meet the expectations set by models you've previously owned and enjoyed, such as the Stratos.

To help address the concerns you've described, we recommend reviewing our troubleshooting guide:

We appreciate your honest feedback and will be sure to share your comments regarding the design, suction performance in handheld mode, and smart detection functionality with the appropriate teams.

Totally sucks! In a good way!

So far, so good! We're battling fleas right now so I wanted a vacuum that could access all the nooks and crannies. The option to take off the canister is great to get under furniture, unlike so many others on the market that are bulky or battery powered. The cord is really long! I like that you can choose auto-sensing, hard floor, carpet, or heavy pile rugs -- all from the handle. Other vacuums don't have that setting or you have to bend over to get to the button.
So far this thing has major suction power. I'm almost worried it's grabbing too many fibers since I'm having to dump he canister frequently.
Only compliant: the blue light that illuminates during hard floor functions. It oddly makes the hardwood look very irregular and dirty/dented. Please change this in future models!!!
