Not the quality they use to be . . .

I purchased another GE toaster because the one I had before worked for over 20 years. Unfortunately, the quality of this new one isn’t the same . . . After a month of use, I have found it does not toast consistently. With 2 slices of toast, the toast is more well done towards the back (away from the buttons) and lighter towards the front. With 1 slice of toast, one slot toasts darker than the other. This is without changing the controls.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love everything about this GE stainless steel 2-slice toaster, except I’ve yet to find a consistent shade of how brown the toast gets. I don’t want it super brown, but I do prefer some browning. There are 7 shades of browning to select from, & I’m still trying! Another issue is only 1 side browns, but the other side does not. I remember reading reviews before my purchase, & other people had this issue of only 1 side getting brown.
I like the width of the slots; they are plenty wide. The length of the slots are also a plus. The toast pops up with plenty of room at the top to get it out without having to use small, plastic tongs. I like the lighted options of Cancel, Frozen, & Bagel. The control knob is sturdy b/c the setting clicks into place when you choose the shade of browning. The lever to lower the bread is also sturdy. I don’t have to press it several times for the bread to stay down.

We’ve been using this toaster for a few months now and are very happy with our purchase! It evenly toasts through and is easy to use and keep clean. The sleek design looks nice when we need to leave it out on the counter. I’d definitely recommend!
