My hair has never looked better. the blow drying ability isn’t as diffuse as the air wrap rough blow dry attachment, but it perfectly suffices with the straightening feature. My hair looks shiny and healthy. i love this thing. Perfect for those on the go who typically go for a straight style and want to look good.
I have that annoying wavy hair under my top layer of straight hair. This tool is so great! So easy to use and not too hot on the heat… Works better than any flat iron for my hair!! I absolutely love it.
I realize I have a learning curve but I was truly disappointed with my very lackluster results. My curly, frizzy hair wasn’t transformed and did not look better than other methods I’ve tried. For the money I was hoping for much more. Really, really bummed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I’ve purchased every Dyson hair care device and this is a close 2nd to the Dyson Airwrap
I just turned 40 and I have what I refer to as combination hair. The bottom half is my mom’s coarse, curly hair that air dries with natural ringlets. The top half is my dad’s fine, straight, oily and started to grey when I was 20. When my hair gets dried out it is prone to frizz and for the last 15 years I have chemically straightened it using keratin treatments. Despite years of chemical and heat damage, my hair needs to be washed daily due to my natural oils. But enough about me.
Pros of the Airstrait include low heat, ability to straighten my hair (even my wirey greys), the device does not get hot (which would be huge for people with small children), auto off and not needing a large round brush while styling (which for me is one less thing I need to pack).
Cons are it’s a one trick pony, price tag and bulky (even more so than Dyson’s other devices) cord. There is a learning curve to this device and my hair is thick enough that I need to divide it into 6+ sections and pay very close attention to getting my roots dried especially on the back of my neck. Doing all this takes some time but I anticipate styling time to decrease as I continue to use the device. My hair is mid back length and it takes about 20 minutes from start to finish.
That all being said, I would rate this as a close second to the Airwrap. And it’s a narrow margin. The Airwrap I consider the best value due to the diversity of styles you can create with the different attachments. My day to day device has been the Airstrait and it’s what I’ll pack for traveling if I know I’ll just want to wear my hair straight. The Dyson Supersonic dryer and Corrale straightener are tied for 3rd as I have to use them together to fully style my hair.
I have frizzy, semi-wavy hair, but just mostly frizzy! I’m not sure how it does it, but this machine gets it as straight and smooth as my stylist after a keratin treatment. I mean SMOOTH! So smooth, it’s even a little flat for me so I use my flat iron to curve the ends. The air gets pretty hot, so know that there is heat involved. I love the auto turn-off and how the machine senses when you need the full blast of air.
Now that I have used it for about a month, I’ve learned how to make the process go faster, but it still takes longer for me than my regular hair dryer and brush.
Considering how much I paid for this, I wish there was a travel case. Overall, I really like this machine and would buy it again!
This tool does a great job of drying and straightening hair, in a reasonable amount of time. My hair is thick, a little wavy, and about 6 inches below my shoulders. Not color treated. I find the tool easy to use and it comes out very straight which is impressive given how thick my hair is. But my hair smells burnt after it is done (even my husband noticed my hair smelled without asking), my hair looks very dull (even with product) and after only 3 uses my hair is starting to look brittle and damaged. I’m so disappointed as it works well and I was hoping to give up my weekly blowout but no such luck. I’m probably going to give the air wrap a try but I know that won’t be as easy to use.

I've always been intimidated by blowing out my type 4 hair. This device combined with the right topicals (I use k18 followed by Oribe Straight away cream) has allowed me to obtain a beautiful blow out.
