After watching multiple videos of airstraight demos, I purchased this product with super high hopes. I tried the airstraight on two separate occasions (using heat protectant) and as with other reviews, my curly hair was left dry, brittle, and frizzy. I’m happy it works for some others but it just wasn’t for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, this is Teanna with Dyson. I am so sorry to see from your review that you have experienced some issues with your DysonI'm very sorry to hear that your experience hasn't been up to our normal high standard. We do our best to provide a first class service to all our customers, I'm concerned to see that we've disappointed you on this occasion.
The straightener is VERY heavy, and hard to hold up for a long enough period to style and straighten hair. I'm returning it because I can't get the utility that Dyson promised.

I bought the Dyson Air Straight today and used it immediately! I cannot tell you how surprised I was. I have frizzy and wavy hair and it came out smooth and full and did the job is drying and straightening in half the normal time it takes me. I’m so happy with my purchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It helps me save time. I can do both in the same time like drying my hair and making it straight and it doesn’t damage my hair. Although it doesn’t straighten my hair that much but i like it how my hair looks after using it.
I have kinky, curly hair and I only get a blow-out at the salon. Airstrait has made it possible to blow dry my hair without brushes. The Cool/wet feature is magic by drying your hair until it’s dry by 90% and then use the Hot/warm wet feature. I didn’t burn my hands or head nor did I get tired holding my arms up to blow dry and straighten my hair at the same time. I have not blow dried my hair in years, except for the salon. I had to try it and bought the blue/copper Airstraight. I know it’s expensive however very much worth its weight it gold.
I sold my Revair for the Airstrait because the Revair was too high maintenance. I still feel like I made the right decision for the reasons listed below, BUT, I'm still returning the Airstrait.....for now. Here is why:
Pros:
1) Blows out/stretches afro hair without a comb or brush raking through the strands. Manipulation causes breakage, so its nice to be able to stretch my high porosity 4c hair without extra tension and damage from a comb or brush.
2) It's MUCH lighter than Revair. Huge plus.
3) I like that it shuts off automatically when you lay it down.
Why I'm returning it.......for now:
1) Makes 4c hair feel like straw.
*Suggested solution for Dyson's engineers when creating generation 2:
Add steam holes and a small water tank like the Loreal Steampod straightener so that users can straighten their hair without completely stripping it of its moisture and leaving type 4 hair feeling like straw. This feature should, of course, have a button to make it optional for users who don't want to use steam.
2) Needs to be made much sharper and thinner at the edges and sides so that the user can get to her roots.
3) 175 is the lowest heat setting and its still hot.
*Suggested solution for Dyson's engineers when creating generation 2:
Add one more lower heat setting PLEASE, for the love of all that is good.
4) The "cool" air setting is not cool. Its room temperature.
*Suggested solution for Dyson's engineers when creating generation 2:
Because cold air and water are thought to seal cuticles, make the "cool air" on the Airstrait actually cold. Like 35 degrees if possible. Kind of like the Babybliss electric cryobrush.
5) It does NOT straighten the ends of any virgin type 4 hair well, meaning you are completely natural.
Suggested solution for Dyson's engineers when creating generation 2:
*Add a removable comb that can be used by those who want to use the "chase" method for sleeker ends.
6) The auto pause when sat down completely shuts off if you don't pick it back up withing a certain amount of time and you have to restart the whole machine. Annoying!
*Suggested solution for Dyson's engineers when creating generation 2: Change machine mechanics to not completely shut off until user presses power button to turn machine off.
I will repurchase this in a year when they upgrade it and work out some of these kinks. For now, I can't justify the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this a month ago. I am still trying to work with it. I bought it to save me time and it has added more time. I have very thick, coarse hair and a lot of hair! The first time I tried to use it took me about 45 minutes to get my hair completely dry and then I thought I still needed to use my straightener. I have also tried blow drying my hair (with my other dyson dryer) until its about 90% dry, then use the air straightener, then use my straightener - it takes me 45 minutes to do my hair. I was looking for something that was good for my hair and saved me time.
