[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The z fold is the first one I have tried and I'm enjoying it. It fits in the pocket very well very durable it has alot of features that I haven't seen before the fold is great.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model has been very good for my use in the couple weeks since it arrived. I like the passport aspect ratio and it's my new preference for phones. The unfolded screen paired with a small bluetooth keyboard work very well if I need to do any actual work without a pc at hand.
However, as always, the inability to easily uninstall some of the software that comes by default is still deeply vexing. I greatly dislike that the bootloader cannot be unlocked and another firmware version installed, and the looming possibility of restricting androids side loading capabilities means that I will have to be watching every single update for a time when I will have to simply stop updating entirely to maintain the way I use my own haddware.
The hinge is great, it closes nicely, and the accessories, a back case and magnetic stand, pair great with it. I am very happy with this phone's quality, and physical features, despite the lack of either an sd tray or a 3.5mm port, however the decisions of both the company and google make me actively concerned that I will have to explore other options when it comes time to replace this phone, and the reality is that that might mean simply changing paradigms to a dumb phone if android software and it's providers are no longer compatible with my needs.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was using the Galaxy Z Fold7 before and loved the Fold experience so much that I honestly don’t think I can go back to a regular phone anymore. When the Z Fold8 came out, I chose to upgrade because I loved that it felt even more compact and lightweight. I’m so glad I did!
The Fold8 feels great in my hand and is very comfortable to carry around, while still giving me that amazing large screen when I open it. I also absolutely love the color—it’s beautiful and makes the phone look even more stylish and premium. Coming from the Fold7, I was already a big fan of the Fold series, but the Fold8 feels even more refined. I’m very happy with my choice and definitely feel like I chose the right phone!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the z fold 7 and thought this would be a downgrade because the fold ultra had a better camera but I caved in and got the 8 instead because of the passport feel. The fact its wider in the front while folded was perfect when it comes to reading, texting, and doing regular things without having to open my phone. I also love the limited edition purple color. Everyone has been noticing my phone and complimenting it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose the new fold 8 for its new form factor. Opening up into landscape, the more rectangular unfolded shape was more appealing for my content consumption usecase.
The squatter front screen is more appealing that I anticipated, using it feels very... Cozy? It may still be due to the honeymoon phase, but interacting with the front display has been surprisingly enjoyable.
A few issues however: upgrading from the fold 5, the loss of s pen compatibility and under screen inner camera are a constant annoyance. The hole punch camera is especially annoying due to the lesser vertical screen real estate from the more rectangular aspect ratio, meaning the space the camera does take up is more noticable and often meaningfully obscurs content.
Additionally, I was particularly looking forward to the horizontal opening for the usecase of using a partially folded state to self stand the phone for video watching, but the hinge doesn't support partially open states like the fold 5 did- it wants to snap to either open or closed. I can still somewhat make it work by using the friction of the phone against a table to keep it partially open- but it doesn't feel great.
Last main issue is the positioning of the speakers in unfolded state. Due to the speakers being on the front-most display top and bottom, unfolded results in both being on the left side, so using the speakers unfolded is suboptimal. This goes against the idea of this form factor being best for content consumption
This product is lightweight and has a large screen

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose the new z fold 8 because of its passport size. When closed, the phone is very easy to use and when open becomes very useful and productive. The aspect ratio is great for media use and the wider screen makes typing so much easier. The only noticeable issue is that it does get hot during more intense use.
