[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a Tumi owner for many years, and have gifted my children, and now my grandchildren, their own Tumi luggage. For Christmas I am giving each of my grandchildren a carry-on to match their checked luggage. The quality and style of Tumi cannot be beat.
It’s super fancy and awesome. I don’t think I’d ever trust checking it—it’s just too nice. Maybe I’d gate-check it, but that’s about it. It’s by far the nicest piece of luggage I own. I travel a lot for work, so it’s already come in really handy. My only regret is not buying it sooner!
Huge Letdown — Couldn’t Survive a Single Gate Check

I was so excited to finally upgrade my Away carry-on to a Tumi. I’ve been slowly replacing all my travel gear with Tumi because it looks incredibly sharp and is perfect for business travel. I started by upgrading my backpack, then got the weekender bag and the dopp kit, and finally decided to pull the trigger on this carry-on.
On my very first time using it, the flight was full and I was forced to gate-check it. As soon as I pulled the bag off the baggage carousel at my destination, my excitement vanished and I immediately regretted the purchase.
The bag looks absolutely terrible. The ballistic nylon is scratched up and every single plastic bumper is heavily scuffed. I know airline baggage handlers aren't gentle, and sure, I can blame the airline to an extent. But for how outrageously expensive this bag is, I cannot believe how poorly it handled a single trip in the cargo hold.
If this bag can’t even survive its maiden voyage without looking like it was dragged behind the plane, I can’t even imagine what it’s going to look like in a year or two of regular travel. Extremely disappointed. Honestly, I wish I had just kept my Away.
I am somewhat disappointed with this bag. While the quality of the construction is, for the most part, great Tumi quality, the design of the bag has left me wishing for something more. First, the hanging garment component of the bag was not well designed. There is no built in protective sleeve, and with the hangers on the long side instead of the short side of the bag, you have to fold garments several times before the fit into the bag. There is no way to get a hanging garment wrinkle free to any destination. This is NOT a bag for business travelers. Also, the capacity of the bag is much smaller than I anticipated. I have another Tumi bag that I have been using for 20+ years and the dimensions on this bag were supposed to be the same, but it's not even close. In fact, I would not recommend this bag for trips longer than 2 to 3 days. Last, while the 4 wheels roll well on hard surfaces, they can be challenging on carpeted floors and challenged on uneven surfaces. I am afraid the handle bar just isn't sturdy enough for some of these other surfaces. Last, the bag came with no instructions on how to use it. I had to search on line for how to reset the lock and how to use the built in USB C port.
