This camera is easy to use and fun to carry around. Kids were initially puzzled by the lack of screen, but they got over it. I love the flow of recording without continuously stopping to check "how did it look".

Fun camera. It’s built well

Fun camera. It’s built well and I love the retro style. My only complaint is the memory card is a little tricky to get at because you need a screwdriver. Other than that, it’s a lot of fun.

Are you serious?! Amazing

This is the perfect reset from instant gratification. It gives a rush of excitement and, for me, nostalgia without feeling dusty. Its lightweight, super straightforward to use, enough filters and ratio options to stay interesting without it needing to be overcomplicated. It feels unplugged and present while still capturing those moments to remember forever.

It makes the best vintage videos… I’ve used it at birthday parties and photo shoots! It doesn’t fail.

Home movies are back with this fun camera.

I'm old and took Super 8 movies back in the 70s, Before that my dad shot 8mm movies of me when I was a kid.
There is noticeable difference is the way movie cameras are used as opposed to camcorder and cell phone video. The difference is the quick short shots due to the simplicity of a movie camera. These quick shots make the home movie more fun.
The CS-8 brings back that fun. As soon as I received this camera I brought it to a party. Teenagers asked about my camera. I handed it to one kid and he immediately understood how to used it, you just point and pull the trigger.
I used simple editing software to string the clips together.
I'm very pleased with this camera, it's simple and fun to use.

Total respect to CampSnap for
on October 18, 2025

Total respect to CampSnap for producing this camera, we need more interesting camera concepts! Why 3 star? - well - for the Mk2 I'd like it to be a bit smaller, 60% the size (2/3rds), it's just a too clunky for general use. While it is trying to be a 1:1 near copy of a Super-8 camera, it doesn't need to be, as it's not a Super-8 camera. I'd rather a smaller form factor (that still looks like a Super-8, with a usable grip) but importantly footage that looks more Super-8, . . . not a camera that's unnecessarily large (trying to look too hard to be a Super-8 camera), then footage which looks digital (wrong way around, would be better if footage matched Super-8, think Kodak. . . strong primaries, skin moved to darker orange, and pale tones kept white, with an S tone curve). Also the EVF needs to be a bit better, and the viewfinder eyepiece needs better focus - and a diopter, I need to hold my eye 1-2cm away from the VF to focus (and my eyesight is good). Mainly it's the footage where it falls down, needs to look more Super-8 - this could be achieved with a LUT but not with the basic CampSnap custom filters (web app) - which have no control over hue shift, saturation and luminance of individual colours (all three of those parameters are important - directed to individual short colour ranges, not just RGB, but also orange, cyan etc).

Love the camera. Easy and straightforward functions. No distractions! On the next version, I would like for the zoom to be more ergonomic to where you can hold the camera and zoom in and out with one hand.
