Pretty fricken dope. Works great. Use the 4x3 for the full sensor. Wish the mic worked a little better, but I wasn’t gonna pull audio anyways!

Best digital super* I have tried

I am a photographer/ videographer, I work both in analogue and digital, I purchased the CS-8 and have really enjoyed using it. I have shot super 8 film cameras before and the form and feel of the camera is nearly perfect to a 1970's super 8 camera. The image quality is great too. I keep mine set on the 4:3 aspect ratio. The colour settings are great too, the Vintage 1 colour mode it very retro feeling. If there are a few things I would like to have on the camera is the ability to change frame rate. 16-18 24fps. As that reflects a true film experience. Also the ability to add a filter to the front lens housing. The digital zoom is not the best and I just don't use it. As for low light, I shot indoors with average lights and was pleased with the footage The camera is a fun and exciting addition to my collection. The simplicity of use and the real experience of shooting with a camera in the super 8 format is wonderful. Thanks CampSnap!

Super fun and surprisingly well-crafted

LOVING this fun new faux Super 8! It's a blast! Very solid-feeling. The analog dials are very well thought-out and useful. (I love the ones that show battery life and disk space). The different filters are super fun, too. My favorite is the one that mimics dust and fuzz. The trigger shutter is awesome, because other than turning the camera on and setting the aspect ratio and filter, you just hold the trigger and film, releasing to stop. I can rollerskate, drive, do all the things, without endangering myself to film! This camera was worth the wait!

Missing an easy function

Love everything about it… except. They thought if everything from the old cameras except a “stay on” function. Someone has to hold the button down to film. The old camera button had a slide to it to stay on. Simple. I mean, why provide a screw hold for a tripod but no hold on method. Who will attach this to a tripod, and have to stand next to it to hold the button down. Very odd.

I am still working through testing out the camera. I like how quickly it records files and how each file is easily distinguishable from another one when I load into my computer. However, the internal microphone is either poorly placed or overly sensitive. I can hear my own breathing when I’m recording footage and that makes it somewhat unnerving to use. I think the microphone ought to be either dialed down a notch have something placed over top of the input so that it muffles sound a little bit or simply just relocated
