I have a CS-8 for myself, and I love it. I even bought one as a gift for a friend, and every time we’re out shooting, people can’t help but ask, “What is that? It looks so cool!” I use mine all the time—not only because I love the look of the footage, but also because it always draws attention. We’ve even used the camera in our productions, both for its unique footage and as a prop on set.
I took the Snapcam CS-8 to Disneyland for its first real outing, aside from a few test videos at home, and overall I had a very positive experience.
Setup was quick and didn’t take much time or effort. The camera is a bit bulky in terms of overall size, but it’s very lightweight. It doesn’t come with a strap or wrist strap, so I added one from an older camera and wore it around my shoulder while walking through the park. That ended up working really well for me, it kept the camera secure, out of my hands when I didn’t need it, and easy to grab when I wanted to start recording.
Video quality is very nice. Through the viewfinder it looks pretty questionable, but once the footage is imported to a phone or laptop, the quality is actually quite good. Audio follows the same pattern. The final videos have a nostalgic feel while still benefiting from newer tech, which I really liked.
My main drawback was battery life and charging. With on-and-off use, the battery lasted from about 8 a.m. to noon before dying. After that, I had to keep it connected to a portable charger, and to continue recording it needed to stay plugged in.
Overall, this is a really fun video camera. I was surprised by how many compliments and questions I got just from carrying it around for one day in the park. If you’re looking for something enjoyable to use that produces solid results, this one definitely delivers.

I love it except it’s not easy to transfer to an iPhone. You have to unscrew the bottom to get the SD card out and then use a separate adapter to plug the sd card into an iPhone.
Wanted to use for church services, but not convenient in that way to move over videos and photos.
I do like the vintage setting 1, but the rest look over-filtered.
Nice to have different filming sizes!

it’s like a time machine

I grew up with my dad shooting super eight movies at home, and of course, watching them projected, of course without sound. I still have his super eight camera and carrying case proudly displayed in my home. I’m so excited to use this new camera and got it on pre-order, which was delivered last week! My only serious request, is when are you coming out with fun carrying cases? I want to protect it and take it places, but want a case worthy of at least what the real super eight case look like, maybe more compact? Maybe in a fun range of bright colors? Anyway, it really is like a Time Machine that takes you to the past, but keeps you very much in the present. Thank you!

I originally bought the cs-8 at the beginning February but the charging port was not working properly. Return and exchange of this was product was an easy process. I did have to reach out after the product made it back to the company because the status had not been updated. I emailed the support desk and they were very prompt with a response and I received my exchange within days. The new product is working great and I'm super excited for future little projects with it.
