Everyone is praising this one but clearly don’t use it for its magnetic properties! Ran out to buy after seeing a better design and will immediately go back for a refund and use my old OG one! Falls off car mount and doesn’t stay on any gym equipment and just slides off! Got all excited for nothing ;(
I got the one with the pull-down stand. I find the part you have to pop out for your fingers not easy to pop out to use so it can’t be used quickly because I have to use both hands to get it to pop out and it’s hard to get my fingers under the tab quickly. The stand part is awesome. I didn’t realize what I was missing by not having it. I’m also disappointed that the round iPhone mag charger does NOT charge my phone through the snap grip. I have to remove the grip every time or go back to using the other type C cord to charge my phone. I also wish it was a little lighter. The cases already make the phones heavier so the extra weight is tough when I want to mount it in my car. I’m afraid it will pop off the stand if I go over a bump in the road. I have a pretty strong car holder but with the snap grip on it does not hold on to the phone as strong.
I’ve used the 2.0s but wanted this for the stand. The stand is great no complaints there. Unfortunately the magnets aren’t quite as strong as the snap grip 2.0. They still work but they slide off some painted steel surfaces at work, and off the mount if I hit a bump too hard when I go off-roading. A minor inconvenience/ trade off for the stand but I still love it.
I had an earlier version (without the kickstand) and this is definitely worth the upgrade. The kickstand folds out easily and holds in place firmly. I can even tuck it in my waistband when I have on leggings with no pocket. The orchid color looks great on my dark blue phone. The magnet lets me stick the phone to the fridge or washer while I cook or do laundry, but I don't have the problem I had with the older version of needing to pry it up with great difficulty from a MagSafe charger. Much inhpoved! My only wish is that the finger grip part somehow felt a little better to the touch. Sliding my finger into the hinges for the one-finger grip is always a little awkward. I guess the plastic feels as nice as it can, but it's not quite as cool as the rest of the build. Anyway, I love this device!
If you're expecting this stand to snap onto external metal surfaces the way older models did — where it stuck to your phone or case via a sticker — you'll be disappointed. It just doesn't have enough grip strength to stay put on a smooth metal surface, like what a lot of gym equipment is made of.It is a great stand, it should be used as a complement to the original Snap-grip, not by itself if you want serious adhesion to metal.
