Extremely Disappointed!

I purchased my 5 speed hand mixer several years ago, however I seldom use it. I am sure I have not used it more than two dozen times in the time I've owned it. I have a KA stand mixer that I use several times a week. Today the button that controls the speed of the hand mixer broke. It will only mix on high speed and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it. I called KA for assistance and was told that the manufacturer's warranty was only good for 1 year. While the person I spoke with was very polite, she was not at all helpful, could not recommend any place to service my appliance, and told me if I had other concerns that I could call back. I am so disappointed that this mixer broke after so few uses. I bought it to replace a previous KA hand mixer that was probably 15-20 years old and I used that one all the time as I didn't own a stand mixer at that time. I've always believed KA is the best brand out there and this is making me question if I want to continue to invest in their products.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a couple weeks ago, to replace my 15 year old (other brand) that has finally decided to give up. 12 dozen cupcakes (icing too) was my first work out for it. Ran great, didn't bog down when making large batches. Outside never felt hot to touch.
