Was Excited to Build, Ultimately Disappointed

Preordered this set upon first seeing it and I was super-excited to build it and display next to my Shelby Cobra build from earlier this year. Unfortunately, I found the experience to be a bit lacking and my least enjoyable Lego build thus far in my admittedly brief exploration of Lego as an adult. First, I found the instructions booklet to be confusing and sometimes hard to follow... requiring disassembly and rebuilding of multiple sections. On one occasion, early on, a piece was in the wrong bag causing me many minutes of confusion and a complete teardown of a section because of it (fortunately, I went through the "extra" pieces in 2 bags prior and found one I needed to complete this section. Then, when I reached the end of the build, the front/hood didn't look right and I noticed a gap... turns out I was 1 stud off in an earlier portion and had to redo a few areas to get it right... due to how unclear I found some of the instructions.
Also, it feels a bit "cheaty" to have as many technic style pieces as are used here as well as so many that were designed for this set. Don't get me wrong; there are some ingenious building techniques used here... but also a couple (rear fenders, hood) that feel a tad flimsy.
Not a bad experience per se... just my least favorite so far.
I purchased this set for my birthday. I was so excited to get it but the build process was frustrating .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The big Icon Cars never disappoint. It was very enjoyable to build and displays wonderfully with the other automobiles in the Icon line up. The E-Type has some of the most challenging curves yet and the techniques used to achieve them were masterful. I highly recommend this set!
this build was so fun to do, a lot of fun techniques used and i'm very pleased that somehow they designed beautiful curvature without dedicated new pieces. favorite part is definitely the soft top roof that can close, it's a super cool design and looks great. i hope to see more icon cars built to this standard. also the color is beautiful, i've been waiting for lego to use more "sleek" and displayable colors for its icon line. the dark green is just so good. hoping they'll add new colors in future cars for some variety
Picked up the Jag when it dropped in stores on August 1st. It's such a gorgeous set sitting next to the other sets in its line! My only complaint is there's a slightly unsightly gap where the convertible canopy sits, but I'm sure people will find ways to patch it
