Average product, you would still see stubble beard even without any attachments. My older philips trimmer trims near razor like look without any attachments.

Very good "poorly" designed trimmer.

As usual, I like Philips products, and search them out when I need a replacement health appliance. Regarding my new to me Series 5000 trimmer, after using it for the past couple of months, I have several comments. First, the good: the cutting heads do a very good job, with little or no pulling, and fit on the handle securely. Handle is light-weight, and easy to use. Now, the less than good: the power button is in the most awkward location, at least for me, in that my thumb sits directly on the button when I am using the appliance in the most efficient manner, and, consequently, I turn the instrument off numerous times during the trim operation. Lots of alternate places to place the button, but there you are. Second issue is the trimmer guide sizes. The shortest guide cuts too short, and the next size up cuts too long. Appears to be a 5mm spacing between these two guides. Where is the guide sized in between? Likely will not return the item, as I did get it on sale, and maybe I'll make a new hobby of adapting myself to the handle configuration, or just go buy a Wahl.
