Inconsistent

I was an early purchaser pf the Fellow Series 1. It is inconsistent. The machine NEVER pulls a 1:2 ratio.
The same beans with the same grind after fine tuning the settings results in poor shots.
Even the presets do not pull a good shot and that is after good feedback from the machine, always below the 1:2 ratio

Great espresso machine

Day one reservation here and it was absolutely worth the wait. I have been waiting a looooong time for an espresso machine to look this good and also perform well at this price range. Props to the fellow team on making such an amazing product.
Heat up time to use is definitely fast. I usually get my cats food ready and by the time I feed her, the machine is ready to go.
It’s been has been nothing but a great experience using this machine. After seeing the other reviews on reddit talk about setting it to manual mode and not relying on the set profiles, I have been able to dial in just about any beans so far. But I can definitely see the appeal for someone who is just getting started with making espresso.
The only thing I can complain about so far is the fact that this machine BLEEDS water. But i saw they’re working on a software patch for it so hopefully it gets resolved soon.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Only complaints are very minor. Round button occasionally clicks but does not register as having been clicked and have to click again.
2nd is I find the drip tray may be a little small, as I feel I’m having to dump it more often

Solid, Beautiful Espresso Machine

I was one of the first to receive their Series 1 and I really enjoy it. It's my first espresso machine so I didn't know what to expect. The heat up time is really fast and it switches over to steam instantly. The parts are very nice and the machine feels substantial. The only issue I have with it so far is that the volumetric dosing is kind of a mess right now. I ended up just turning it off and measuring my dose with a scale.

A decent home machine

I have had my Series 1 for a couple of weeks and I am still learning the ins and outs. In general the fit, finish and function are pretty good. A few negatives are the user interface is pretty clunky. Trying to figure out how to set the auto volumetric is not intuitive at all. I am not sure why this would bot be included in with the profiles. Perhaps as I learn I will find there are ither ways to do it. Next, the portafilter feels cheaply made,and when you crank it into the group head it feels gritty and like unfinished metal grinding together. Perhaps ad it is used that will break in. In general the machine pulls a decent shot and steams well for a home machine. I wish I didn't have to qualify that statement by saying "for a home machine". The interface while steaming showing the current temp of the milk and the target temp is nice. I hope as I use it my mind changes on some of these things but for the price point I expected more.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent but needs software update

I love this thing. The only issues I have with it will likely be corrected by software updates and since it’s so new I won’t fault it there. The system default to volumetric dosing would be great for beginners if it was anywhere near being accurate. It was giving me 8ml shots when it needed to be near 36ml. I understand with all the variables it could be difficult to get it right, but the default is way off and I’m surprised nobody adjusted it before shipping. As a first-time espresso-maker I gravitated towards this machine specifically for these “smart” features but was let down. I quickly switched to manual dosing with a scale and the quality improved DRASTICALLY. If they can fix the volumetric dosing it would be a huge win for beginners. I have some other nitpicks like the group head rinse being too short no matter how much I extend it in the settings (and also someone on Reddit had to tell me it even had this feature since I never saw it mentioned). Otherwise I love the machine itself. It’s gorgeous, feels good to use, and does everything it says it will. After a good software update I would easily recommend this to literally anyone.

Everything is wonderful but the tea setting water isn’t hot enough for tea and I can’t figure out how to change it. Love the finish. Been a joy to use

So Far, So Good, Impressed with the Execution

I have been making espressos and espresso drinks for more than 3 decades on a variety of commercial machines. I bought the Fellow Espresso Series 1 out of curiosity and for potential use as a spare machine and on the road. I have used it for a week and made 3 drinks per day. I have not tried to use any of the automated features and have used the machine manually. The display shows the extraction pressure and I have been able to set the shot temperature. I haven't independently verified either, but the results seem consistent with what I've seen n the screen.
In my use I have found the machine to be very solid, very user-friendly, and intuitive to use. The quality of the drinks produced has been very good. I have been able to use portafilters made for other machines such as La Marzoccos in the Series 1 without issues. Build quality appears to be good. I obviously cannot comment on durability at this point since I've only had the machine for 1 week.
I would recommend this to a friend!
