We were given this vacumm when we bought our first home with mostly hard floor surfaces and I've used it nearly every day for the last 6 years. Honestly if the cats had not chewed on the cord so badly (exposing the wires and cord protector) we would only be getting replacement filters. I use it mostly for the trailed cat litter - since no mater how careful your feline babies are they do trail a little from their box. It is also great for the dry messed my kids make. My oldest is just now 5 and youngest is 3. Goldfish crackers, pretzels, cereal, bread crumbs, and other dry foods that have been found on the floor or been smashed into fine crumbs by your shoe get cleaned up easily. It is compact enough that we can keep it in the coat closet for easy acess upstairs, or downstairs in the larger closet with the other vacuum and carpet cleaner. Yes we do have to empty it often, but it is easy to do and quick.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bissell Featherweight is useless

I bought this product based on it's glowing reviews. I only needed something to clean up cat litter around my cats boxes and it can barely handle the job and only when I go over a spot multiple times. There is barely any suction so it has trouble picking up a grain of sand. Very disappointing.

Thanks for your feedback. The Featherweight usually does receive glowing reviews so based on this perhaps something isn't connected properly. Make sure the dirt cup is snapped in properly. There shouldn't be any gaps. Also, make sure the filter is secured tightly to the machine for good airflow.

I found one of these in a thrift store. Absolutely preferable, in every way, to getting out 'the big one' or traipsing out a broom and dustpan. Quiet, light, and efficient--yes, a bit tedious to empty. Just establish a routine and open it over a box in the garage and use a designated brush to clean the screen and you are good to go in under 30 seconds. Though it's clearly not meant for heavy duty use, I often use it to clean the garage floor--including sawdust. Because it's so easy to use--you'll quickly use in places that you hadn't exactly planned, window sills, for instance--back around the back of the toilet bowl--and any place you see a speck, from floor to seven feet up ! #just detach the head# Remember, the 110 volt doesn't have the internal battery weight to heft around--the inconvenience of the cord is not a problem when it's both very light and no charging fuss/delay Oh, I store mine upside down #and turning it on before I put the head down# as there is a possibility of 'leakage' from time to time Now if only they hadn't lost the crevice tool

I have Multiple Sclerosis so I wanted something I could handle easily. We also have total linoleum in our home. This featherweight is AMAZING. We have pets-it picks up the hair. We have a messy teenager-it picks up the crumbs. It is an awesome product, well made, and very well worth the price. In short; we are in Love with it.
