A definitely must have

Thanks to Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was given this carpet cleaner to try. I was pretty excited to try this carpet cleaner since I not only have a dog, but also 3 small children. As you can imagine, it makes keeping carpets/rugs clean a bit of a challenge. After taking it out of the box it was very easy to assemble, and everything is clearly marked on the cleaner to make it easy to use. It was easy to remove and attach the water tanks, both clean and dirty. I was impressed with how easy it was to maneuver while using, as well as how it wasn't too heavy for what it is. I'm a big fan of the clean water tank being able to stand up on its own, which makes filling with water and cleaning solution so much easier. I noticed that when you get close to the max fill line for the dirty water it almost seems to stop suctioning which is a great feature so you know when to empty the tank. I'm not sure why the tank design is so big, when the max fill line is not even halfway up the tank, but it was easy to empty and clean out. Loved the attachment hose which is great for spot treatment on carpet/rugs, as well as furniture. Overall, I was very satisfied with this carpet cleaner and the noticeable difference on my rugs and couches. If you're looking for a great carpet cleaner, this one is a definite must have.

Improved Design!

In a home with a dog (who sometimes doesn't do what she's supposed to do) and three young kids, I've put carpet cleaner vacuums through the wringer. The Turbo Clean is definitely an improvement over the upright I have been using, especially because of the versatility of the wand attachment. I started by using the upright on the 3x5 carpet in our front entrance. This is the carpet that gets the most dirt pounded into it. The Turbo Clean did an okay job on the carpet, and to be fair this was a tough job. I then went over some of the worst spots with the detail attachment. It was the detail attachment that really was an improvement over the Hoover wet-vac that I already have. While there is no spinning brush on the wand attachment, I found it helpful to really soak and scrub the worst spots and I can see how with pet mistakes, this would be very helpful. My recommendation would be to first spot treat and then use the upright to go over the whole thing. Oh and the cleanup was soooo much better! Overall it's an improvement over other carpet cleaning vacuums but not quite pro-level for the clean. I was given this carpet cleaner to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

Cleans well, easy to use!

With 3 kids and 2 dogs, it's hard to keep our house as clean as I prefer. Upon unboxing, this carpet cleaner was pretty simple and intuitive to set up. The directions were easy to follow and I was able to get started right away. The carpet cleaner is easy to maneuver and I was initially impressed with its cleaning power. We are a no shoes household and it's only been a few months since I've cleaned our carpet so I couldn't believe what the dirty water tank emptied. The included tools were great for upholstery to clean any food or drink spills, although being that this product is advertised as a the turbo clean pet, I feel the rubberized attachment for removing pet hair should be included. The exclusion of the rubberized pet hair tool and the fact that there is no self cleaning cycle for the machine itself are the reasons for my 4 star rating. Overall, I think this is an effective cleaning tool for a fair price point. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this carpet cleaner.

Easy, Effective (And A Little Loud)

I first used the carpet cleaner to clean the upholstery on my sofas. I have two young children so the cushions were looking pretty spotted with dirt and stains. It was easy to connect the upholstery cleaning accessories and very simple to use. It took me 10-15 minutes per cushion until I was satisfied that I had removed the stains and sucked up as much moisture as possible (to try and shorten the drying time). It still took a few hours for the cushions to dry and, afterwards, I did notice a couple of areas that I could go over again. Overall, though, I'm really happy with how much better my sofas look. And I know that I can easily pull this out to give them a quick clean in the future. Next, I used the carpet cleaner to clean the carpet outside my apartment door. This carpet is probably older than I am and I'm not sure it has ever been cleaned. I put the TurboClean to work and the water that got sucked into the reservoir was absolutely disgusting (though it is so satisfying to see that it's working). I went over the carpet until I ran out of cleaning solution so while the before and after photos aren't dramatically different, I know that it's better than before. (I will be buying more solution and tackling that area again.) A few more things to note about this carpet cleaner: -It doesn't take much of the cleaning solution to clean upholstery but you do run through it pretty quickly when cleaning carpets. -This machine is LOUD. It is not something I can use at nap time or after my kids are in bed at night. This is the main reason I rated it 4 and not 5. -It's more lightweight than I was expecting and maneuvers like an upright vacuum. -It's super easy to use, which I appreciate. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me this carpet cleaner! All opinions in this review are my own.

Powerful and easy to use

I have never owned or used a carpet cleaner before. I live in a pet-free, shoes-off home where my kids are only allowed to eat/drink in the kitchen or dining room, so I just assumed my carpets didn't need cleaning. Then, I received this carpet cleaner from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and realized how wrong I was. I cleaned my stair-runner carpet and a 8x10 foot carpet in my son's bedroom and was SHOCKED by how dirty the water in the dirty water tank was. Amazing! As I said before, I'm a complete beginner to carpet cleaning, and I found this Turboclean Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner extremely easy to use. The instruction book included was concise and easy to follow, and I had the cleaner assembled and ready to clean in less than 5 minutes. The size is about the same as most upright vacuum cleaners, and it's no heavier or harder to use than one of those. It maneuvers easily and has plenty of length to the power cord to reach all over my rooms. When using the hose and smaller attachment to clean my stair carpet, I kept the unit on the bottom floor and was able to reach more than halfway up my flight of stairs. I easily did the top half of the staircase by moving the unit up to the top floor (its base is too big to fit on my narrow New-England stair treads). Hooking up the hose and upholstery attachment was simple, as was changing the water tanks and cleaning the machine after I was finished. Overall, I was really happy with this carpet cleaner, however, there is one very large exception to that: the smell of the cleaning formula. There was one sample of cleaning formula included (though the box itself and the instruction manual both indicated that there should be TWO samples included, there was only one), Bissell Pro Max Clean + Protect. I used the minimum recommended amount and was really disappointed with just how much fragrance this cleaner includes. The smell of the cleaner is similar to a air freshener, which I am sure some people find pleasant,

Powerful Carpet Cleaner for Tough Stains

I was given this carpet cleaner to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This is a great tool to have in your home, especially with messy toddlers and pets. I was very impressed with how compact the cleaner and tools can be broken down for storage. I can break it down to a manageable size to store when I'm not using it. It is a little bulky when I maneuver it around my home with multiple levels, but that is to be expected with upright carpet cleaners. With its ability to be broken down to store I don't mind its size while assembled. It is also notable that this Bissell cleaner is very powerful and efficient. I have used other carpet cleaners in the past that have required me to go over the floor/spot too many times. I only had to go over a spot on my area rug once and a spot on my couch two times to make a difference. Another thing I love about this carpet cleaner is the variety of tools it comes with. There is a tool and function for everything I need. I love that I can clean my carpets, area rugs and upholstery. Overall I would recommend this product if you are looking for a product that efficiently cleans spills, stains and day to day wear on your carpets.

Powerful Cleaner in a Small Form

I recently had the opportunity to use the Bissell Turboclean Pet upright carpet and upholstery cleaner Model 3948. I was given this carpet cleaner to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I am a young senior citizen and pet owner. I also am frequently visited by my children and my grandchildren. I was surprised by the light weight of this unit. It weighed about 14 lbs. without water. The unit has a small size and takes up a small footprint in storage. The cleaner was easy to assemble and I was off cleaning carpet within minutes. The small size was perfect of tight areas and it was very maneuverable. The first area that I tried it on was a sweet potato oops left by a grandchild on a cream-colored Berber area rug. The stain was several days old. I was impressed that, after only a few passes of the cleaner, the stain was removed. I think it would have even taken less effort on a smoother pile carpet. I next tried it on my low pile wall to wall carpet. It performed very well there also. The power brush was a large improvement over the stationary brushes on my old cleaner. The suction power was impressive and there was little moisture left behind. The clear plastic window on the nozzle allowed me to see both how much dirt was being removed and how much water was still being extracted. Even on a recently vacuumed floor I was picking up cat and human hairs. The hose and cleaning tool were easy to attach and the 7 ft. hose allowed me to reach all sections of a love seat. The cervices tool was great to get in the corners. Although the love seat did not look dirty, I was surprised how much dirt was extracted from it. The thing that I liked the most was the combination of small size and powerful suction. These features make the unit a great choice for the quick clean-ups that are commonplace with pets and/or small children. I have limited storage place and in order for me to keep appliances around they must do a good job. This cleaner is a keeper

A must have for every pet parent

With two dogs in the house (and three two-legged children too) this is my new favorite carpet cleaner! It's light weight so I don't dread getting it out and the water container is easy to empty so there isn't a huge mess cleaning up after. The upholstery attachment might be my favorite thing. Within days of getting the cleaner as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel we had my larger dog leave a mess on my white dining room chair and my little dog throw up on the front rug. Also had my kids track mud into the back hall rug. The Bissell was able to tackle all the messes easily and I know this is going to get a LOT of use in our house. My only critique is that the clean water handle is blue so I keep trying to pick up the cleaner using that handle and it lifts off the water basin instead. But other than that, it's a great machine for cleaning up every day pet (and kid) messes!
