Very disappointed Garmin will not allow pictures to be sent to social media or emails Or cellphones to people that don't load the Garmin app. The device itself is nice.

I picked up the Garmin inReach Mini 3 Plus about a month ago, and overall I’m genuinely impressed with what this little device delivers. For anyone who spends time on the trail, in the backcountry, or simply wants reliable two-way communication when you’re beyond cell range, this is a serious piece of kit.
The two-way satellite messaging works exactly as advertised — fast, dependable, and reassuring to have when you’re in areas with zero cell coverage. The SOS functionality gives real peace of mind, and the device pairs seamlessly with the Garmin Explore app on your phone for an enhanced experience. Battery life is excellent for its size, and the compact, rugged form factor means it easily clips to a pack or fits in a pocket without adding noticeable bulk.
That said, there is one area where I feel Garmin is leaving performance on the table: the maps. For a premium device at this price point, the onboard mapping detail is underwhelming. Trail detail, terrain features, and general cartographic depth don’t match the level you’d expect given what you’re paying. When you’re navigating in unfamiliar terrain and relying on the device’s built-in maps, the lack of detail can be a real limitation.
The Garmin inReach Mini 3 Plus is a very good satellite communicator — reliable, compact, and well-built. But with more detailed and robust mapping, it could easily be a great one. The inReach Mini 3 Plus was purchased primarily as a non-cellular dependent rescue transponder. It works very as standalone navigator and communicator via SAT phone. It links flawlessly to cellphone apps like Car Play and other Garmin devises. In my case a Garmin Nuvi. I am an avid motorcyclist who finds himself in remote places all over North America and this is by far the best set-up with current available technologies. Peace of mind knowing I can seek help if needed anywhere on earth is what I seek.

I love this device. I am doing a long distance hiking trip and it is great to know that I can let my partner and friends know where I am even without cell coverage. Just makes those lonely scary nights feel better.

Worth every penny!

Took my in reach on a hunt for 10 days in Montana in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and was able to keep in touch so well with my family that it didn’t even feel like I was out of phone service. I was also able to keep track of up to date weather forecasts to plan out our days.
This thing was worth every penny and it will be an item that I never leave at home!

Would not leave on an outing without this device. However, one better learn the nuances of this device because it is not intuitive...other than the SOS button, which in the end is the ONLY reason to own it.

Doesnt wor in Western Washington

Definitely easier to use than my in reach mini was but it pretty much useless here in western Washington state. You cant rely on it to save you here, I can't send out texts so I'm guessing an SOS wouldn't go out either. I think you have to be above tree line or in the dessert for it to send and receive messages.
