Costly service

Next year we might hire a tax person. We did a few small investments and our price more than doubled for turbo tax. Feel like this is crazy that small investments would trigger such a large increase in the price of this service. If Elon Musk used this service, he would pay the same price.

Turbotax tries to do a good job at things like remembering stuff, where the bones are buried, but during the cleanups, it leaves much to be desired for helping with the minutia. I thought I had a free filing too but I guess quickbooks stopped doing that. why can't I just worry about deductions, as the government already has all my income. yeah. oh well.

Good product with poor ethics

TurboTax does a great job helping you prepare your taxes, but I hate the constant upsells and dark patterns that Intuit uses to try to get you to buy the most premium version of the product and use their refund services, which are an additional upcharge. An unwary consumer could easily be tricked into spending more money than they intended.
