I was skeptical about using the online product, but my desktop version locked up my computer and I had to repeat the process. So, I decided to give the online process a try and I was satisfied.

The experience was easy and foolproof. However, I was charged $203 just to file taxes myself. I could understand a small fee for using the website, but when I am inputting all the information myself, it feels ridiculous to spend that much.

Turbo Tax - no rollover of PY info!

I have used Turbo tax for many years, and this year's experience was by far the worst. None of my prior year information rolled forward, requiring significant additional time for me to complete my 2025 tax returns.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax handles my taxes reasonably well, but there are some annoying aspects. There are multiple instances where they ask you to pay for additional services or to allow the permission to use your data but it is not clear how to decline. The prompts also tried to direct me to the IRS to get a PIN but that turned out to require giving them biometric information and I am sorry but I dont trust them anymore. It took me maybe fifteen minutes to figure out how to continue without this PIN. It is not needed, which isn't clear in Turbo Tax.
