Stop Asking Upgrade Questions

Expensive AND software sucks.

Tax form from Koinly for crypto did not pickup the buy and sell dates. Had to enter this in MANUALLY for 226 transactions. They were clearly printed on the tax form, TurboTax should've picked those up, if not for buggy software. Will not be using TurboTax again. Also charged me $204 to file, ridiculous.

Awesome Tax Tool Year in Year Out.

I have always used Turbo Tax for filing my taxes. Each year it works well for current tax information and interfacing with previous years.

simple but watch for hidden fees

While it made filing taxes relatively simple, we grappled with several hidden fees. TurboTax defaults your selections to profit them the most and not the user. One could say its an "adversarial" interface.

Confusing experience with NRA spouse filing

TurboTax worked, but the process took much longer than expected because it wasn’t very user-friendly in my situation.
My wife is a nonresident alien (NRA), and we filed separately. However, TurboTax kept guiding me toward e-filing, even though that’s not allowed in this case without a spouse SSN/ITIN. This was confusing and caused multiple back-and-forth steps before I realized I had to switch to filing by mail and also change the payment method.
Overall, it would be really helpful if TurboTax better handled cases like NRA spouses and clearly prevented users from going down the wrong path (like e-filing when it’s not possible).
