Just Ok

In past editions, you could ask to be taken to a particular form or page of your taxes. It is now more difficult to navigate the system. I think some software revisions to make it more user friendly is called for here. May not use this product next year.

TurboTax is useful and efficient

Since I had a problem with the Turbo tax I purchased, i.e. Wrong Windows version on all my computers. I had to use the Online version. I wish there was a way to make hard copies of tax documents from the Online version. If there was, I couldn't figure it out. So that is a complaint, and I don't believe I "tech challenged".

This year's program was not nearly as user friendly as in previous years. It wasn't as easy to find the correct spot to input information.

Had some issues with duplication of documents and missing infor. First time using the browser based software. Have used desktop for 18 years and was always great. Could not download app this year because desktop did not support Windows 10 and I still use Windows 10

The only issue I have with the software is that you have to keep scrolling to get to a continue button.

Worked well

Generally I liked using the online Premium version. My only complaint is that I could never find a way to switch to the actual tax forms (or even see the actual tax forms) while I was working through the TurboTax questions. That is something I could do with the desktop versions I have used in the past.

Better than I had feared

I had been dreading it -- I'm NOT averse to tax paperwork, actually I had self-prepared for 10+ years using a free gov't program called FreeFileFillableForms that's basically online e-file versions of all the actual IRS forms (ZERO fee, but zero help -- I didn't want or need help, which most people probably do). But that program could not accommodate one form I had to add this year (federal Form 7206) that I never needed in the past. So I was thrown into a new situation: either get a new provider to e-file with, or submit all paper returns by snailmail. I feared TurboTax would force me through many extraneous steps to enter a ton of stuff the IRS does not require. Those fears proved overblown. The details their system asked for came pretty close to what I had on my spreadsheets and had been entering with my previous e-filing service. There was some added data entry, but not too bad. And their system was less transparent than I'd like, which caused a hiccup at one point (after I wrongly entered a number in one of their screens the only way to edit or fix that was to delete that whole 1099-B and then re-enter its data). But I understand TurboTax or any commercial service cannot display any completed forms until a user pays and is set to file -- if they did, they'd be giving away their secret sauce. Also I feared their fee promotion would be deceptive (after a bad experience 10 years ago) and I'd end up ripped off with junk fees loaded on. But their fees for the do-it-yourself product came in as advertised: $129 federal plus $59 for state. (Of course, I'd have preferred to submit through my old provider for ZERO fees. But to do so this year I would have had to print and snailmail paper returns. I've long done that with NY State... but I felt it would be too risky to file federal returns on paper, in this day and age. So I went with TurboTax and paid the fees. All their final numbers came in pretty much as on the actual IRS and state form spreadsheets I had made, with only tiny differences due to rounding.)
Pros: I bought or sold investments
