TurboTax is nowhere near awesome. A candid review.

Not good software. Importing tax documents for dividends, interest, IRA distributions takes multiple attempts, and then the information is repeated multiple times in the software. To create the annualized AGI numbers you do not provide a worksheet with all of the line items, so I had to figure this out on my own. Not impresssed with TurboTax. And there was not even any mention of the $6000 Senior Credit.

TurboTax can be used for people who work abroad

Appreciate the good UI/UX and the side panel is helpful to understand various fields.
The warnings and examples are also very useful.
The amendment feature is great.
One thing, filing as someone living abroad, it gets a bit confusing how to make sure I only get Foreign Tax Credits, and ensure Form 2555 (Foreign Earned Income Exclusion) is not filed.

Turbo Tax is Awesome!

This Turbo Tax is somewhat easy to understand, but there are also some topics that are very hard to follow and to understand. However, I love it. I love the feature of Turbo Tax ability to download info from Form 1099-DIV and some investment firms information. Without it, it is hard to fill up all the schedules with the data and information imported from investment companies.

TurboTax is great except one small glitch.

Really great product and super helpful. My only issue is if you have a Non-resident Alien spouse. I selected that he was, but it will not allow you to put the NRA in the box, I am now out of the US so filing by mail is impossible.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments

Deceptive upgrade

I brought the desktop Deluxe version which gave Federal E-file and a state (form fillup) , in the process of filling up I was offered a free online update which indicated that I can efile both federal and state for free ..but after I filled up my state.. i was asked for extra payment and if not provided my state filing was deleted.. I paid for a state filing (not efile) but now I lost it because I switch to the online version - this is deceptive practices and I am never returning back to this software

Not easy , complicated, repeatedly caused me to do data entry , then created duplicates. finalization process was annoying
