Turbo Tax Knows the Federal Tax Code Best!

Filing federal tax return is no fun. It's way too complicated and needs to be simplified. I've been with Turbo Tax since 2002, they've been excellent so far, so I hope the IRS accepts my return again this year.

I like how easy to follow everything is and all the opportunities to double check. I do not like how the service is constantly trying to upsell me on additional features.

Ready for some "Foreign Income"

If you have foreign accounts, the software constantly nags you for a "Payer’s Federal ID Number (FEIN)." Since foreign banks don't have this, it can get stuck in an error loop.

It Gets Worse Every Year

It beats doing taxes by hand, but the interface gets worse year-after-year. I can never figure out how to get back to a page I already visited. You used to be able to see the generated tax forms, but that is a thing of the past -- it's impossible to tell if they are accurate or not. And almost every other page has some advertisement for "Max", "Get Personalized Support with Max", or something else like that. It's annoying. You are already taking $180+ dollars of my money, so I think I will stick with premium, alright? I promised myself this is the last year I will spend hours fighting with TurboTax.
