Cost me about the same as having a professional file for me. Will most likely have a professional do it next year. There are several unnecessary steps and confirmations that take a ton of time as well.

This is the worst version of TurboTax I've ever used. Redundant and had to decline add ons over and over. Didn't like how it didn't show the refund so far until half way through.

Handles my moderately complex return

I like TT because it provides good explanations of my unusual tax situations. For the instances in which it does not provide enough info, the app is so popular that I can find answers to my questions from other online sources with a basic google search. I also like the multiple options for inputting my tax forms from institutions. The main thing I do not like about TT is the high cost. I keep using it because my info from last year is automatically available, which saves me time.

TurboTax is horrible and antiquated

For a substantial portion of the return filing process, it felt like turbotax was coming in the way rather than making things easier. Sometimes, it's easier to edit the form directly to fix the issue, turbotax should sync both ways so I can switch back and forth. Not one of the auto import integrations worked. Instead of popping the useless thing on the side about what I can do, why not just let me bulk edit non covered securities. Also how hard is it to auto fill these fields for major brokers. You should behave more like a data integration layer rather than just a form filling ui.

I had to search for how to include payment of estimated taxes; it did not show up in the general process.

In the past I used a Turbo Tax CD and using this program online was very confusing, especially for my Schedule C and IRA income.
