Turbo Tax is very good.

Don't want to use the ID.me junk. I was forced to use it for 2023 taxes and didn't like it at all. They keep sending me adds that I have no interest in and they charge extra money. Otherwise, Turbo Tax is OK. I have used it for many years.

TurboTax Online is quicker but somewhat confusing

This was my first time using the online version of TurboTax. Although the guidance was useful, the product was not as intuitive as it could have been. At this point, I am still partial to the desktop/laptop version of TurboTax.

Dark Patterns and Constant Upselling

Instead of presenting the user with the different tiers of TurboTax products, Intuit has chosen to show the highest tier with a big "Start for free" button. In order to select a different tier, the user has to see and click the small "See other TurboTax products" link buried in the info about the Expert Assist tier. The only way to get out of that tier is to "clear and start over." Really fantastic.
For the fourth time, no I do not want MAX. You can ask me once, but that's it. Any more and it is annoying. I see the options to upgrade spread throughout the edges of the user interface. I do not need three pop-ups between steps asking me to upgrade to MAX.
Intuit, try using this comment form sometime. It is awful as the page keeps moving your cursor to select and deselect various review topics based on the comment. What else can we expect from "AI" other than crap?

Review issues

Other than multiple tries to push me into an upgraded product, there seems to be a flaw in the review process. Oddly, a page came up telling me that apparently I did not file with Turbo Tax last year, despite TurboTax accessing my 2024 Turbo Tax file on my computer and pulling that information into my 2025 file. I not only filed with Turbo Tax, I also received email updates about the process from Turbo Tax and received my refund with no issues. Took me a good 10 minutes to get around the problem and continue with the review and file. It was an extremely annoying bump in the process. In all the years I have used Turbo Tax, this is the only time I've had an problem.
