What is this about?

To be frank, I'm not sure yet. The process isn't done yet :-) So far, I'm satisfied with it, but I don't feel comfortable until I actually see the finished product.

It is not a good product model to charge returning customers more than customers who are new to the product. It is also not a good idea to hide additional fees at the end so that the customer feels like they are only spending one amount ($99 instead of $139), but then charge them the exact difference in additional fees after the entire process has been completed. This is also true when I was only able to actually import 2 of our 5 W-2 forms.

TurboTax a Massive Letdown

I've used Turbo tax for the last 18 years. This year has definitely been the worse. The menu's were convoluted, sometimes you have to click multiple times for the software to register what it needs to do. I ran into a stalemating glitch 2 times. The software was trying to get me to put both a payer's EIN and SSN at the same time (you can only file for 1). First it automatically put both in itself, then it said I needed to fix it. After I fixed it, it wouldn't let me continue until I put in the SSN of the Payer, which didn't exist. Eventually the only way to remedy the problem was to delete that entire segment of the return and re-enter it manually. I'm not a big fan of the new interface either. Having 3 different menu icons on the same screen that you can click at the same time (yet they need to be done in an order that's unknown to you) is terribly convoluted and really drops my confidence that I'm filing everything correctly. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend TurboTax this year to anyone. I've used it for so long I prefer my information in one place, so even after this frustrating experience I still paid in the end. I found myself considering other options many times throughout filing and if it feels remotely the same next year, I'll certainly be going with a different company.
