Love Turbotax

I really enjoyed using TurboTax for my return this year. It was far easier than having to make an appointment with a tax professional. It walked me through the process and explained everything in detail. I would highly recommend this to anyone and plan to use it again in the future.

If it's expensive it should work

I have been using TT for years. This year, I had stock transferred when a company spun off part of itself. I logged into my investment account via TT, yet TT failed to pull information from the investment account. This meant I got the privilege of going line by line for 60 small transactions and marking when the stock was acquired, if it was short or long term, reported or unreported, what type of stock it was (ie employee plan), and the cost basis. This took a grueling amount of time and meant my "estimated 1h42m" tax time was over 4h. If this were a free service I would think that was okay, but to pay $200 do do all that solo? Absolute extortion.
In future years I think I will either pay for a competent accountant OR make use of my local library's free tax help.
